Sydney noise artist Justice Yeldham has joined up with Kevin Blechdom’s Slaughterin' Slobbersville, a traveling showcase of cross-collaborating artists, as it makes its way across Europe. Yeldham (aka Lucas Abela), a maverick musician with an unhealthy obsession with broken glass, is scheduled to perform in Munich tonight (April 28) with further performances planned in Austria, the Netherlands and across Germany.
Curated by Blechdom, a renowned American experimental artist, Slaughterin' Slobbersville features artists from a variety of backgrounds, musically rooted in experimental, electronic, noise, cabaret and spoken-word traditions. The show is described as “an ever-changing sequence of first person vignettes hung loosely from the underlying conceptual history of a genetic mutant civil war in 2024”.
The tour is the culmination of a busy period for Yeldham, who has just released his latest album with Beijing pick-up band Rice屎Corpse. The album features six “varied and strangely focused” improvisations and has been described by Yeldham as his most accessible work to date. Well, about as "accessible" as a guy munching glass into a microphone is going to get.
