Kev Carmody Joins Drones Tour

Related: The Drones, Kev Carmody.
Iconic singer-songwriter Kev Carmody will join The Drones on the Sydney and Melbourne legs of their upcoming national tour. He will replace the David Yow-fronted Qui, who have had to cancel their Australian tour due to “unforeseen circumstances”.
Carmody’s first album, 1989’s Pillars Of Society, was described by Australian Rolling Stone as “the best album ever released by an Aboriginal musician and arguably the best protest album ever made in Australia”. He has since established himself as an acclaimed singer-songwriter, releasing five more albums and co-writing ‘From Little Things Big Things Grow’ with Paul Kelly. The Drones covered Carmody’s ‘River of Tears’ on the 2007 compilation, Cannot Buy My Soul.
Melbourne’s Witch Hats will support the Drones on all legs of the tour except for Fremantle.

most likely the shiny brights.
I remember mixing for him in 1988 or something. It's good to see that he's still going more than 20 years later.
(It's good to see that I'm still going more than 20 years later, too.)
No one is excited to see you though

drones seemed a bit flat for the first 45 minutes of last nights set, going through the motions a bit, then they clicked around the time of shark fin blues and the remaining 5-6 songs were superb. kev carmody was really cool, loved his stories....
kev was an entertainment. including the community singalong of 'from little things'.
but the drones were massive. abortion, odd numbers...sixteen straws with just gareff and noga was hypnotic.
sydney show was also noga's birthday. we got to sing that to him as well....
Yeah I just got home from this. Great night. Great, great, night.
Missed Kev, but Droes on fire!
All 3 bands were tops. Hadn't seen Witch Hats before and I thought they were good enough to buy some vinyl on my way out the door. I didn't think I was in the mood for Kev Karmody last night but he was brilliant. I just wish that all you cunts would have SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!! while he was playing. His stories had me in stitches too.
Drones were amazing. Possible the best I've seen them. Good times. I didn't even care that they didn't play ''Jezebel''.
Witch Hats won the night for me. Great set.
Emergency! What did they close with on Thursday night? It absolutely slayed me but I can't remember what it was.
i ain't gonna change in sydney. beleive it may have been kev's river of tears in melbs...
I love you, Monty.
that sound right in your memory?
Really? I thought it was a bit by-the-numbers, to be frank. Though that could've been because of the dude who thought he was at a chill-out room sway-dancing next to me.
Yeah, just not as vim-filled as last couple of theirs I've seen.
It does sound right. I just YouTubed it. Absolutely stunning. But the set overall was a little ponderous.
