Ten WAMi Nods For Tame Impala

Tame Impala will lead the charge at this year’s WAMi Awards. The ’60s-inspired power trio were nominated for a whopping 10 awards including Most Popular Act, Favourite Newcomer and Most Promising New Act at a media launch in Perth last week.
Other nominees include The Panics for Best Commercial Pop Act; Eleventh He Reaches London and Extortion for Best Hardcore/Punk Act; Red Jezebel for Best Indie Pop Act; Good Cop Bad Cop for Best WA Based Record Label; and Snowman, whose sophomore LP The Horse, The Rat and The Swan (M+N’s critics album of the year) was nominated for Most Popular Album.
The winners will be announced at the WAMi Awards Night at Metro City in Perth on May 7. Hosted by Tex Perkins, the evening will feature performances by the Kill Devil Hills, indigenous act Djiva and “Next Big Thing” winners Project Mayhem.
