Wolfmother’s MTV Debut

Wolfmother debuted their new single ‘Back Round’ at the MTV Australia Awards last Friday. And with big riffs, vocal histrionics and nods to Black Sabbath and Led Zep, it’s a complete departure from their much-loved oeuvre. Just jokes, but at least it’s free.
Wolfmother’s performance was about the only “Australian” thing about the so-called MTVAAs with the evening dominated by US pseudo celebs including pint-sized emo poster-boy Pete Wentz, his lip-syncing wife Ashlee Simpson and Audrina Patridge, a rich kid cast member from reality soap The Hills. Instead of giving valuable pay TV airtime to Australian acts, the show featured performances by Duffy, The Killers, Vanilla Ice (!!), Kaiser Chiefs, The Fray and Kings of Leon (live via satellite).
Awards were given out in a whopping nine categories with Jessica Mauboy (Best Aussie) and Sneaky Sound System (Independent Spirit) the only Australian winners. Silverchair, the John Butler Trio and Ratcat all left empty-handed.
The SMH’s Bernard Zuel can whinge all he wants about the Australian Music Prize, but at least it actually acknowledges that there is a music industry here.

RatCat?
wha'?
That song is really shit. Also - it says here on M&N that a one man band was joining wolfmother. I can't hear a single bike horn! One guy using Protools doesn't count!
RIPPED FUCKING OFF
HAd a look on da YouTube. They really should have rehearsed more - bum notes and fluffed solos everywhere. Goood drumming but.
did the wizard weave a spell?
His hat fell off.
