It’s been about two years since the last Aleks and The Ramps recording – 2007’s Pisces Vs. Aquarius – but the gym-shorts toting outfit are back with a new single.
‘Antique Limb’ is one side of a split 7” with Mixylodian from Montreal, a band who will be touring Australia later this year. It’s also the first taste from their as-yet-untitled sophomore LP.
Since recording Pisces Vs. Aquarius, the following has happened: drummer Captian Rad moved to Perth, got hitched and now lives in Mongolia (no kidding); multi-instrumentalist Black Wasp joined; the band (kinda) toured Canada, New Zealand, the US and Japan; and Aleks found he was somewhat visually impaired and began wearing glasses (conspicuously absent from that photo above).
In other, more pertinent news, Aleks and The Ramps will launch the single at The Hopetoun Hotel in Sydney, Ric’s in Brisbane and Anytime Place in Melbourne in late April-early May.
