After months as simply “Band”, Ben Bourke and Joe Talia – Ned Collette’s bass player and drummer, respectively – finally have a name of their own. The pair are now known as Wirewalker after the award-winning documentary Man On Wire, which Collette recently watched on a long-haul flight.
“We have a new name for the band because Joe and Ben deserve to be more than just 'Band',” Collette wrote on his MySpace page. “They are quite obviously the talent/looks/brute force side of things.”
Collette and his newly christened Wirewalker will play a one-off show at the Thornbury Theatre on March 27. The show marks their return from two tours of Europe and a sojourn in New Zealand, and will encompass extensively roadtested new material along with a smattering of old favourites. Work on album number three continues, so this will be their only appearance until its completion mid year.
Supports are Mick Turner (Dirty Three), Sydney’s Rand & Holland and Cuba Is Japan.
