'New' Album For Hanlon

Sensitive new-age singer-songwriter Darren Hanlon will release an album of flipsides, rarities, B-sides and compilation tracks this month. Dubbed Pointing Ray Guns at Pagans, the album features a bunch of tracks spanning Hanlon’s 10-year career – from his first recorded song 'Funpark Fugitives' to his most recent limited-edition single 'Electric Skeleton’.

To celebrate the album’s release, Hanlon will embark on a 15-date nationwide tour in late March. He will be accompanied by Pikelet’s Evelyn Morris on drums and Cory Gray from Portland. The tour caps off a busy period for the Gympie-born singer, who has spent the best part of 12 months touring overseas and making video clips with “Hollywood actors”.

Supporting Hanlon on all legs of the tour is New York anti-folk hero and comic book artist Jeffrey Lewis. Apparently, Hanlon has been trying to get Lewis over to Australia since first seeing him at a festival in the UK a few years ago. His shows often include impromptu comic book readings and hand-drawn flip pad presentations, along with the odd poem or two.
