V Round Two

Okay, so we weren’t that enthused (to put it mildly) with V Festival’s first announcement. So have organisers atoned with round two? Not really, but at least they’ve added a couple more local heavyweights to the bill.
Wolf & Cub, Children Collide and Aussie ex-pats Howling Bells, who are returning “home” to promote their new album Radio Wars, are among the Australian acts added. They will join other recent additions including Madness, The Kills, Jenny Lewis, M83 and the Human League, as well as local groups Tame Impala, The Temper Trap and Canyons on the decidedly lukewarm bill.
In other V Festival news, entries will close for the Garage2V band competition today (February 13). Garage2V offers four winning bands and one “People’s Choice” selection the opportunity to perform at each local V Festival. Past winners include The Seabellies and Little Red, both of whom have Virgin to thank for turning them into the cashed-up mega-stars they are today.
Prospective rock stars will have to get passed the judging panel first. Judges include: Clem Bastow (RRR Melbourne), Rob G (Select Music, booker/promoter), Jess Beston (A&R Universal Music), Greg Carey (Music Governing Body, Music NSW), Sarah Smith (managing editor, FasterLouder), Pete Carrol (The Panics manager) and Fergus Jenkins (licensing manager, Dew Process). What? No Dicko?

Oh come on. M83 and Madness are great additions. The Human League are cool too, in an enjoyably daggy sense.
What would you prefer? The V Festival line-up consisting exclusively of Fitzroy-based indie bands who play gigs to fifty of their friends?
Whitehouse reformation gig and Keiji Haino obviously.
The important part of the news story is missing: the v festival lineup.
Has Jenny Lewis toured Australia before? I think there are a few excited people around about that.
And Madness, MADNESS! Come on!
Every time I hear Jenny Lewis I think of Jenny Morris. That doesn't excite me.
Holy Shit. has someone informed lokihanns about Madness? LOKIHANNS... MADNESS ARE TOURING!
it's up there now
It's not very exciting is it?
well, i'm loathe no to editorialise on these things...
i read jenny lewis and think huey lewis and the news.
I saw madness in 2006. They were great, and I was drunk off my head.
I'm with timewaster! It's NOT as bad as expressed here.
The M+N dogs will sniff this one out and tear it apart.
I read this as ''What? No Nicko?''. I thought it was funny.
I like a bunch of these bands. Its way better than the big day out
fuck art. let's dance.
:D
$140 is a lot when I only want to see Madness. Still cheaper than flying over to Madstock from Australia like some people are doing.
I need to get a job, I would dress up as the mother from 'our house' to go.
I wonder if M83 will do a sideshow this time?
I'd see that. Madness would be fun.
