McLennan's Brave New World

He's one of the artists in line for the $30,000 Australian Music Prize (AMP), but Ross McLennan shows no signs of complacency.

The former Snout mainman will play an ambitious show at Melbourne's venue du jour, the Thornbury Theatre, on February 13. Accompanied by strings, woodwinds and a choir, collectively known as the "New World Sympathique", McLennan will perform songs from last year's AMP-nominated LP, Sympathy For The New World.

The night's all-star lineup also features Rebecca Barnard and Sailor Days, a new ensemble featuring Biddy Connor, Laura Jean and Jen Sholakis.

Cost: $10. Jesus, how are they gonna pay the strings?
