Wolfmother Engineer A Comeback

Related: Wolfmother.
More than seven months after their last performance at August's Splendour in the Grass festival, Wolfmother – what's left of them anyway – have engineered another comeback show. The '70s tribute band fronted by Leo Sayer Andrew Stockdale will perform to 90,000 revheads on the final day of the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide in March. The Living End, The Presets and Lee Kernaghan will also perform. Grouse.
The Grammy Award-winning band lost two of its founding members in 2008. Chris Ross (bass/keys) and Myles Heskett (drums) resigned, leaving singer/guitarist Andrew Stockdale to forge ahead alone. There's no word, however, on the band's new members, just a mysterious note on their website reading, "Phase II cometh."

i hope like Underworld the rock band will come back in Phase II as an experimental minimal electro dance project.

''You are witnesess at the new birth of Spinal Tap Mark II, hope you enjoy our new direction...''
In the 1990s the music press came up with an expression to describe any anonymous gaggle of musicians hiding in the shadow of a more glamorous frontperson. They were dubbed Sleeper Blokes, in honour of those members of Britpop act Sleeper who somehow managed to be even less glamorous than vocalist Louise Wener.
I don't really like how people insist on still using the same name of a band when substantial members leave. Although I understand the reasoning behind it, it just feels like cheating to me.
you can still read ''leo sayer'' underneath the line.
the concept outlasts the members.
I think I know one of the new Wolfmothers. He has a big afro kind of thing too.
anon?
Where's Wipey?
do you think they will kiss and make up?
It'll be a Wolfmother franchise with bands around the world using the brand guidelines or unoriginal rock (as fun as it was). Just like Sesame Street or The Wiggles.
Heyyyy, that's a good idea!
HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHA
This will be amazing. Someone film it, please!
I thought they were called Lemonheads? or Whitlams?

I think Kerrang used to have ''Ken'' of the week. ya know? The three guys in Aerosmith that arent Tyler or Perry. That thing. I never read Kerrang, a friend told me about it.
Andrew is Wolfmother. He's the voice and the main songwriter. Why shouldn't he keep going under the same name?
When thinking about the ''Ken'' or ''Sleeper Bloke'', spare a thought for The Other Guy From Bros, who did pretty well:
''After his stint with the group, Craig Logan worked as a producer for Kim Appleby before going on to work as a sales rep for EMI records and then a manager to P!nk. In 2006, he was put in charge of Sony BMG's RCA Label Group (UK).''
Although, he was engaged to Dannii Minogue, which may or may not have been a good thing.
No, John Farnham is the voice.
Is the heat keeping you away from the skate park, timewaster?
No, John Farnham say's you're the voice, pops. You.
Yep, the heat is fucked. Hopefully it will cool down around eight o'clock, so we can skate. Last night I started to learn FS Hurricanes on the rail. I was stoked.
i read this and all i can think of is LL Cool J's line ''don't call it is a come back, i've been here for years'' from mamma's gonna knock you out.
carry on.
Block, Farnham is well known for being 'the voice'. He was just trying to be democratic.
Try and understand it.
In music: A common nickname for Whitney Houston, Bobby McFerrin, Yma Sumac, Frank Sinatra, B. W. Stevenson, Russell Watson, and Lenny Zakatek
they stole our studio and now have have 4 members....
That's like saying 'oh that Holden Gemini is totally awesome, but i've taken the wheels and motor off it, but please feel free to drive it, here are the keys' to a 3 year old.
The guy on the right in that photo has a lot of charisma and mystique. Is he going to be the new ''cool'' one in the group?
Other bands full of ''Sleeper Blokes'' include The Vines (Craig Nichols and assorted ring-ins as the original drummer and bass player have long since departed); Guns and Roses (Axl Rose and session musos); Napalm Death (All original members have left); Flying Burito Brothers (yep, there are a bunch of dudes still performing under this name); Lynard Skynard (70 percent of the band died in a plane crash, but they reformed with the 2 or 3 survivors and ring ins. The original keyboardist just died); Deep Purple; The Who (well the do have Daltrey and Townsend, so they are exempt); etc.
hmmm, napalm detah have had the same lineup for 20 odd years though so maybe they don't really count...
Anyone?
You could count Frenzal Rhomb as well . . . hehe. I'm sure there's still inner westies still mourning the departure of Ben.
and the dude with the mouth, whatshisname?
Led Zep are about to tour without Robert Plant.
maybe andrew could join them?
No, the Led Zep tour got cancelled.
