After a difficult 2008, The Meanies will reunite for their "first show in a very long time" in Melbourne on January 16. The Melbourne punk icons will perform at The Espy's Gershwin Room with Brisbane's SixFtHick, The Spazzys and The Once Overs.

The Meanines lost two long-time members in 2008 – founding member D.D Meanie (Dennis DePianto) succumbed to cancer in February, while Tas Meanie (Tasman Blizzard) died in a car accident near Geelong on August 1.

Entry to The Esplanade show is free.
