Hanlon’s Xmas Cheer

Darren Hanlon, everyone’s favourite Candle Records sook, is back in Australia for his annual Christmas shows. Hanlon recently returned from a four-month sojourn in Europe, supporting the Magnetic Fields, Sufjan Stevens and Sun Kil Moon. Onya Dazza.

In keeping with Hanlon’s Yuletide tradition, the shows will be just lone man and guitar/banjo with the odd special guest thrown in for good measure. “Odd” in this instance meaning “miscellaneous” not “weird”. The same, however, can’t be said for the venues.

In Sydney, Hanlon will perform inside St Stephen’s Church in Newtown, a beautiful sandstone building surrounded by one of Sydney’s oldest gothic cemeteries, while Brisbane’s show will be held in the hallowed halls of the stately Old Museum. Later this month, Hanlon will jet off to Lorne, Victoria, for the Falls Festival over New Year’s.
