Musclesgate Continued

Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of Muscles’ life. The electro-pop star’s spat with his label Modular has reached soap-opera proportions, so in the interests of cutting through the crap, here’s a timeline:

December 2: Muscles issues a statement on his website that his performance at Nevereverland — Modular’s 10th birthday bash — has been cancelled. Further fuelling reports that his relationship with Modular had soured, Muscles’ Wikipedia entry ends controversially with the line: “Modular amicably parted ways with Muscles in November 2008.”

December 3: Modular drafts a lawyer-like response saying that he is signed to them for 25-to-life and his offer to play at Nevereverland still stands.

December 4: Muscles calls shenanigans on Modular’s response, saying that, “It's crystal clear modular, DO NOT want MUSCLES on their festival line-up, so ignore whatever silly press releases that come from them.” His ever-reliable MySpace page now claims he’s signed to Universal and he makes a blog post on his website saying he’s quit the biz altogether.

In spite of all these developments, Muscles has found time to record a new song with Tim Rogers. There is a clip of the You Am I frontman playing with his kitten on the MySpace page Muscles was supposed to delete on October 27.

So who knows what tomorrow will bring? Probably an announcement that the whole thing was a cleverly conceived stunt to drum up PR for Modular’s poorly selling Nevereverland and/or Muscles’ flailing career.

Then again, maybe not.
