Remember when The Treetops, Ground Components and Riff Random were the most talked about bands in Melbourne? When Muscles made Idle use of his time on certain internet forums? And you couldn’t go anywhere without hearing The Strokes’ ‘Last Nite’?

Notorious indie dance night Shake Some Action is hoping to relive those heady days when it hosts a “reunion” in Melbourne at 161 tonight (November 20). Miami Horror will make their live debut, lo-fi duo Learn the Splits will play some acoustic folk, while Muscles and members of Eddy Current Suppression Ring will show off their DJ/bubble blowing skills.

But there is a catch. The event is open to “old crew” only, so you’ll have to email your full name and myspace/facebook profile to hughwaters@me.com for admission.

It’s certainly not like the old days, when all you needed was a fluro vest and those magic three words: “Scobes is cool.”
