Like a phoenix rising from the Moscow Schoolboy ashes – a band that self-imploded before they really even started – Melbourne-via-Wellington singer Jess Cornelius has reinvented herself as a solo artist. Performing under the moniker Teeth and Tongue, Cornelius will launch her debut LP, Monobasic, at venues across Australia in November and December.
Released on November 15 through Crystal Chain/Inertia, Monobasic was produced by Casey Rice (The Dirty Three, Pikelet, Guy Blackman), and features guest performances from Joe Talia (City City City, Ned Collette Band), Ian Wadley (Bird Blobs, Minimum Chips) and Ricky French (Actor/Model, Hand Hell).
In a live setting, Teeth and Tongue features a revolving cast of musicians. For the release of Monobasic in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide, Cornelius will be joined by a three-piece band featuring Patto Millman (Wicked City) on bass, John Brice on drums and Brigitte Hart (Hot Little Hands) on keyboard.
