V Festival Returns

Another day, another music festival. This time it’s the return of the V Festival, which will take place in Sydney, the Gold Coast, Melbourne and Perth in March.

Tame Impala, The Temper Trap and Canyons are the only Australian acts confirmed in the first announcement. They will join generic-rock gazillionaires The Killers, Snow Patrol and the Kaiser Chiefs on a fairly bland bill that also includes Duffy, Louis XIV and Elbow.

Virgin Mobile’s Garage to V competition, which gives an emerging band the chance to play at midday on a side stage, will run again in 2009. There will also be a venue change in WA to counteract the “apocalyptic rains” of the past few years.
