Tas Meanie In Memory

Tributes have flowed for Tasman Blizzard (aka Tas Meanie), who died in a car accident on the Bellarine Peninsula near Geelong on August 1.

Best known for his work with the Meanies, which he joined in 1993, Blizzard was also a founding member of the Seaweed Goorillas and Maiko.

“Though many people knew Tas as a guitarist and surfer, he was also a psychologist who worked with families in crisis,” a statement read.

Bandmates also paid tribute to Blizzard’s easy-going nature.

“I’m so crushed about Tasman’s death. He has always been one of the funniest guys I’ve had the privilege to know and it breaks my heart to think that I’ll never again have him next to me on stage playing his heart out,” said former bandmate Link Meanie.

“I hope there’s an afterlife with a big ocean and perfect waves for our Wompy Stompy Surfer Boy. I’ll miss you mate.”

A funeral service for Blizzard was scheduled to be held at the Point Lonsdale Boardriders Club on August 11.
