Meticulously groomed singer-songwriter Josh Pyke has announced a short string of dates in support of his new beard, er, single, ‘The Lighthouse Song’.
The song, not to be confused with Amity Dry’s ill-fated attempt at a pop career, is the first taste from Pyke’s forthcoming album, Chimney’s Afire. And if it’s any indication, listeners expecting more of the same indie easy-listening are in for a shock, with the song mining a darker musical terrain.
Pyke’s “Lighthouse Tour”, which encompasses Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide, will see the singer showcase tracks from Chimney's Afire, which is due for release in October on Ivy League Records. It was recorded in Sydney and mixed by Rob Schnapf (The Vines, Powderfinger, Foo Fighters) and Paul McKercher (Augie March, You Am I).
Supports for the tour are indie supergroup Firekites.
