Augie Marches Into The Studio

The ever-prolific Augie March – three albums in 12 years – have jetted off to New Zealand to record album number four.

The Melbourne quintet will base themselves at Neil Finn’s Auckland studio Roundhead for the next month or so to record the as-yet untitled LP, set for release in late 2008. Production duties will be assumed by Joe Chiccarelli (Zappa, U2, Beck, The Shins, White Stripes).

The band, who released the seminal Sunset Studies in 2000 but is best known to Nova listeners for their single ‘One Crowded Hour’, has already dubbed the material their “finest yet”. Accolades are still rolling in for their last record, Moo, You Bloody Choir, with album track The Honey Month voted number nine in a recent Mojo reader’s top 10 song poll.
