Customising The Drones

Related: The Drones.
Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. No, it’s not a (borrowed) Ben Lee lyric, but the latest concept from ATP Recordings, the clever folks behind the “Don’t Look Back” concert series.
Dubbed “Custom Made”, the series features four songs by an artist released on limited edition 7" and digital download – and Melbourne’s The Drones will be the first to take part.
Here’s how it works:
SIDE A
Something old: A new recording of ‘Cockeyed Lowlife of the Highlands’.
Side B
Something new(ish): ‘I Don't Ever Want to Change’ from the much acclaimed Gala Mill (2006).
Side C
Something borrowed: ‘I Drink’ by Charles Aznavour
Side D
Something blue: ‘Shark Fin Blues’ (from 2005’s Wait Long By the River ... )
To celebrate the launch, The Drones will play a weeknight show at the East Brunswick Club on May 14, with supports by Joel Silbersher. And if the re-emergence of Hoss’ bearded wonder isn’t enough to justify a school-night out, The Drones will be showcasing “lots” of new tunes from their forthcoming album (due for release later this year).
The launch will be the band’s last local show for quite some time -- they will jet off to the US in July for “three months of corn chips and salsa” ie. a tour with Band of Horses.
