Melbourne’s Cut Copy has unseated a surfing champ, a Barbadian R&B star and the owner of Bubbles the chimp to top the ARIA charts.
The electro-rock three-piece debuted at number one on ARIA’s album charts with their sophomore release, In Ghost Colours.
Released in Australia on March 22, the album was recorded in early 2007 at DFA’s Plantain Studio in the West Village, New York.
Cut Copy is currently touring Australia with Duran Duran, the Smashing Pumpkins and the Jesus Mary Chain as part of this year’s Countdown Spectacular, er, V Festival. They will then hit the tarmac for dates in Europe and the US.
