After several onstage hints during their recent self-proclaimed "best ever tour", Dappled Cities have officially announced the departure of drummer Hugh Boyce. The news comes just a week after they completed a string of high-profile shows, including a tour with US darlings LCD Soundsystem, the bands first "fully sold out" Australian headline tour, and a slot at the opening party of the Adelaide Fringe Festival.
A post on the Dappled Cities website says: "Hugh has gone off to pursue a career in bio-mechanical engineering and we wish him all the best. He will be sadly missed." Considering the idiosyncratic drummer was a founding member of the band since they formed way back when as 15-year olds, the departure marks the end of the original line-up. And a reminder that the pull of bio-mechanical engineering must never be underestimated.
