Muscles Tours The Lakes

Back in July 2006, Andrew Ramadge wrote this piece for Mess+Noise Magazine, profiling a kid about to play his first gig at Plan B Lounge in Richmond. In it the subject quips, "When I'm 60, I'll be huge." It must come us a shock then to find that a little over one year later, the dreams of that imagined sexagenarian have been well and truly exceeded.

US tour, Daft Punk support, number's 14 and 76 on the Triple J Hottest 100, iTunes feature artist. Throw in some global critical acclaim and status as regular festival favourite/source of hysteria and you've earned yourself a good lie down.

Instead Muscles has announced a 15-date national headline tour, which will have sold out by time you finish this sentence. Probably. He can also add to that bulging CV an upcoming Australian tour with none other than The Chemical Brothers.

The most interesting date on the itinerary is perhaps a stop nestled at the start of the tour, a Muscles 'acoustic' show at The Toff in Melbourne. We sent an email to Muscles to try and find out more, and were told: "The acoustic show is going to be piano and vocals only, re-interpreting songs from Guns Babes Lemonade, playing songs from pre-GBL, as well as new songs that don't have a home yet."

Which is the hyperbole-free version of: "Muscles will play one extra special unplugged set at The Toff in Melbourne. Unlike the regular electronic danceteria Muscles throw-downs, this one will see Muscles go all piano-man, sitting at a baby grand and singing and playing like nobodies business, no electronics. A slow waltz will be about the only dance you can expect to see at this intimately unique show."

Sounds ace.
