The second edition of the Golden Plains music festival, held at the site of December’s Meredith Music Festival and put together by the same organisers, has been announced for the Labor Day long weekend running from Saturday 8 to Monday 10 March 2008. Australian acts featuring on the eclectic, commercial sponsor-free bill include The Vines, British India, Sir (pictured) with Jane Badler, Pikelet, The Bamboos and Scientists of Modern Music, while Ween, Beirut, Dirtbombs, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, Optimo, Jay Reatard and Buffalo Tom feature amongst the international guests. Most of the ticket allocation will be done by ballot, with the results of the first ballot already being e-mailed out and the second being drawn after Wednesday 14 November.
