Probably a thread. Search isn't working.
Girlfriend's watching Far From Heaven. Sheesh.
"What are you sorry for? That just for one fleeting moment someone could see another, beyond the surface of things!?"
And that's the male character.
fuck, i love chick flicks
I like bad romantic comedies, but I can't stand the dramatic ones.
Last week it was Bridges of Madison County.
groan
Getchoogirl sat me down in front of The Notebook. I am only slightly ashamed to admit that I howled like a BITCH!
Whatta sook :(
On the plus side, she laughs at my really bad dialogue fill-ins whenever there's a dramatic pause.
"Please, don't call me Mrs Whitaker..."
"... Call me sex kitten #4."
In fact, sometimes I think she gets these out just to watch me make flimsy attempts to assert my manliness.
what about The Notebook?
Let's face it.
It's time to break up.
What about it? It's a sookfest & I was very soggy by the end of it.
it's awesome/dramatic, that's what
Geri love gets me every time!
I ended up buying it on DVD but I haven't been able to bring myself to watch it again.
Is wipey in a band called Ohana? I just spotted this pic, and it looks a bit like some pics I've seen of his hair.
Well that's an interesting shift in conversation...
i thought this was about pornos.
Gives adm a disappointed look.
BEACHES.
that's what my mum used to call pornos. "girly movies" or "girly magazines".
geez you're shallow andy. This is not just a girly chickflick.
Far From Heaven is an imitation of a 1950s melodrama.
That genre was used to look at all kinds of interesting social action - like black and white relations.
but it comes over like a poofy chick flick.
is this the one with julianne moore in it?
yep.
it';s beautiful. but it's certainly not a real girly film.
right, cos what you said up there then
it's a really good film, andy
Oh, I think I was getting this confused with Just Like Heaven - Ghost-lite starring Reese Witherspoon. I heard from a number of people that Far From Heaven was excellent.

Perhaps you are right...
but it comes over like a poofy chick flick.
... But so is Ken. ;)
did you get girl germs from watching it andy? %)
Haha.
Now we're watching my choice, Stranger Than Fiction.
:)
jesus christ
Beaches makes me cry every single time. When the scene cuts to a black car driving past the camera to reveal the funeral, I lose it.
Stranger than Fiction was really good!
Me too, PG. Me too. In fact, I was having this very conversation with someone in the pub last night.
DID YOU EVER KNOW THAT YOU'RE MY HEEEEEEEE-ROOOOOOOO?
Stranger than Fiction was really good!
Yeah I've already seen it once, I really like it. :D
Shit. I cried in Stranger Than Fiction too.
I think there is something wrong with me.
they played that song at my nan's funeral.
i'm like, dudes, we're sad enough! do you have to make it worse?
*gets teary*
the notebook always makes me bawl.
turns gay
I didn't cry in Beaches, probably because I was told I would.
my wife cried all the way through legends of the fall, and kept crying for some time afterwards.
Wow! I didn't know anyone could stay awake through that movie.
yeah, admittedly it's not the enthralling cinematic experience that is beaches.
Haha ouch!
Hey I'm not the one extolling the greatness of beaches!!
i cried tears of joy while watching the notebook.
The Notebook gets so many mentions in the tear department. It must be pretty full-on. I don't think I could sit through it.
Naw it's beautiful! Geri love!!!
i cried like a little girl in 30 First Dates..and stranger than fiction.. and almost cried during an episode of Angel on the weekend.
I've turned into a tissuey mess. OH THE SHAME.
err. 50 First Dates or 30? i dont remember
50 first dates. I got a bit sad about that movie, too.
...aww but the ending! OH THE ENDING! sadness
I know, I KNOOOOWWWW!!
I can't remember the notebook, except for the fact a girl and i shared about 5 bottles i wine and i was a puddle of tears by the end. I'm sort of glad i can hardly remember it.......why do you girls put yourself through this stuff and enjoy it.
I made her sit through the Evil Dead Trilogy the following week.
I watched the Notebook for the first time a couple of weekends ago. Since then I have watched it twice more, plus taken it into school and shown my students.
Fucking. Great. Love-story.
I wants a love like that.
I also have a soft spot for Army of Darkness.
"Give me some sugar baby."
swoon
I didn't know anything about The Notebook when getchoo put it in the DVD player. I was just mildly curious & only slightly alarmed as to why she decided to turn the lights off to watch it. Our faces were so blotchy with tears by the end of it it all made sense.
Ahaha The Notebook! A friend lent me the DVD. I can't see how it was cryworthy... Maybe i'm too hardened.
