nintendo wiii - the end of our society

Mo  said about 4 years ago  or at  5:39PM on Wednesday, June 13 2007 in chat

seriously

if one more person tells me how good their wii is because u can play baseball and swing just like u would a baseball bat

or ten pin bowling etc

what ever happened to taking a bat n ball down to the nets with your mates

or am i just old?

anonymous  said about 4 years ago:

who plays baseball in real life?

anonymous  said about 4 years ago:

but man, posting on m&n on my wii is just like the real thing!

number none  said about 4 years ago:

both mo.

I thought the whole idea of video games was to play them when you want to veg out and such

empra  said about 4 years ago:

do you know how much effort that takes?!

Inactivist  said about 4 years ago:

It's only the end of our society because it's so fucking awesome that no one will ever leave their house again!.

Mo  said about 4 years ago:

hahahaha i <3 u nony

yeh i dunno it just seems odd

scallywag  said about 4 years ago:

taking a ball n bat down to the nets with your mates means that you actually need mates, something which most people who whack on about how good a gaming console is probably lost years ago

number none  said about 4 years ago:

who wants to go bowling?

michael_horse  said about 4 years ago:

what if it's raining ?

Mo  said about 4 years ago:

i wanna play lawn bowls again

anonymous  said about 4 years ago:

can't number none, injured my hand using my wii.

michael_horse  said about 4 years ago:

anyway, you're probably missing the point

they're saying wii bowling is better than playstation bowling, because the motions are much more similar to real life

not that wii bowling is better than real bowling

adamdmills  said about 4 years ago:

i want to go bowling, number none.

JunkiePhil  said about 4 years ago:

You mean you have to use your hands?
That's like a babys toy!

anonymous  said about 4 years ago:

not that wii bowling is better than real bowling

are you sure they're saying that?

tangy_zizzle  said about 4 years ago:

I'm sure the baseball and ten pin bowling industries are shaking in their boots.

It's not a replacement, it's something else entirely.

history  said about 4 years ago:

I can get way better scores in wii bowling than real life.

And wii golf.

michael_horse  said about 4 years ago:

dunno, anon, that's why i said 'probably'

i like bowling
i like wii bowling

i'd much rather go to the alley to bowl

Mo  said about 4 years ago:

yeh i can dig that.....

just - i was at a mates in newcastle a while back and they were playing wii pool

meanwhile there was a pub up the road that had a pool table and beer!

i dunno just wondering what ur guys thoughts were

Inactivist  said about 4 years ago:

anonymous  said about 4 years ago:

well...it is newcastle.

michael_horse  said about 4 years ago:

mo: pros and cons ... pool at home means you can drink cheaper beer, and listen to the music you like

history  said about 4 years ago:

I dig that call mo, when it comes to wii pool you'd surely way rather be doing it at the pub. But when it comes to a real round of 18, that would take me about a year.

michael_horse  said about 4 years ago:

and perhaps they couldn't be bothered swimming to the pub

Mo  said about 4 years ago:

yeh i guess so

that makes sense

horses for courses i guess.....

tangy_zizzle  said about 4 years ago:

I don't think the choice between sitting at home playing computer pool and going down to the pub and playing there actually happens very often at all.

The video inactivist posted is pretty illuminating - a family at home in their lounge room laughing and playing together. Nothing wrong with that now is there.

Inactivist  said about 4 years ago:

adamdmills  said about 4 years ago:

i had an atari 2600 when i was little.

it was really cool.

TopherPlus  said about 4 years ago:

wiis great to pick up for 5 minutes for a quick set of tennis. or to knock the piss out of a couple of miis that look like jesus or moby in boxing.

hardly a substitute for the real thing. i don't see too many people who would have gone out to do these things in real life staying home now. however i do see some fatties who don't go out much actually getting off the couch to do some wii boxing etc.

Mo  said about 4 years ago:

interesting points topher

the power of 666  said about 4 years ago:

Wii = Video Games
Sports = Physical Games

completely different. I used to skate all the time, and then go home and play Skate or Die. They access different sectors of funtimes.

history  said about 4 years ago:

You can actually get worn out playing the wii though.

taniastrange  said about 4 years ago:

i play it once in a while. don't have one but other people do... it's good for awhile... it's the only way i ever get a bit of exercise these days. there's more than just the stupid sports one... i only like the boxing and bowling on that. there's the wii play one and heaps of other things... i think you can even download N64 games.

it actually makes me want to go real bowling now...

i'd also go for lawn bowls again! isn't there one indoors somewhere?
