So this is a thread where you can point out articles about Australian bands mentioned or covered in the international press. Either link or, if you can be bothered, type out or scan the article.
Naked on the Vague This month in Wire, reviewed by Byron Coley:
Sydney based duo with keys, female vocals, bass and drumbox. Unlike some groups with a line-up like this, they stay away from beats and focus on No Wave (or perhaps, 'little band') harshness. Very stark in a black and white kind of way, and really quite hep.

and yes Coley spelt it 'hep'
Coley for president!
Soviet Valves had a review in Japanese music mag Cookie Scene, I think March 2005 issue. will try to scan it and paste it here...
thought I'd bump this for the day crew
for fans of Byron Coley, check out this great youtube thing where he and Thurston Moore discuss 'Green Blues' by MV + EE & the Bummer Road here
i can't wait for a simliar thing with Shaun & Emmy discussing the next Bluebottle Kiss release.....
hang in there until the end too.
Byron Coley needs to get over No Wave. In fact, I think the world needs to get over No Wave.
damn youtube not working at work!
Byron has been pretty kind to Australian bands over the years I've been keeping an eye on his (and increasingly jon dale's) column in The Wire.
i was often surprised by how many Aus bands were mentioned in the Arthur column when it was still going. Thurston and Byron should move down here.
Coley came here for his honeymoon years ago. True.
The Saints' Imperious Delirium reviewed by Pitchfork

I've seen Kiosk reviewed in Jon Dale's column in The Wire. A while back.
>i can't wait for a simliar thing with Shaun & Emmy discussing the next Bluebottle Kiss release.....
Heh? Might have to get Mr Adam D. Mills in on this one - we could make it a panel.
I was reading a stack of Coley's old Forced Exposure reviews tonight- Australian bands galore.
Yeah I did watch that runout. Weird is Coley's favourite word.
don't know the 'international press' thing, but i saw a dude at Brighton (East Sussex, UK) wearing a Wolfmother t-shirt.
i'm in.
i remember seeing a lovely seaworthy review in wire a while ago.

The Stanleys
From the This Town Touring newsletter:
What a massive two weeks it has been. The On Fires started off their second national tour with a crazy show at Shanghai Foreign Studies University. They are 10 shows in, and played to a huge crowd at a festival in Zhenjiang. The afternoon spot at Beijing Strawberry Festival over the May holiday was also definitely one of their best. The On Fires have 4 more shows left in a brutal touring schedule. Their last gig is this Saturday night at Mao Livehouse in Beijing, with support from some of China's best young rock acts. The Backyard Surgeons have also just finished their 6 show tour. Their show at Chengdu Zebra Festival was insane, as was the first gig at Shanghai Midi Festival. Check out a video of that gig here. Finally, Australian hard rock band Arcane Saints played their first show at Beijing Midi Festival yesterday, and will play three more club shows this week. Another tour starting next week, with Perth rock band The Stanleys playing 7 shows in a 9 days throughout the country.

Ahh, the classic Pitchfork non-committal 8/10.

And I can't find the funny quote about giving albums 8/10s but there was one.
