Essendon Bombers FC - Red and Black

gabbo  said about 4 years ago  or at  3:51AM on Sunday, June 3 2007 in stupidity

Could not find another thread, so bring on the fawning, gloating, and talk of umpteenth premierships, Brownlow's, Coleman's, and ANZAC Day medals...

gabbo  said about 4 years ago:

Tonights win beats last weeks in the 'smugness stakes'.

A win feels so much better when the opposition whinge endlessly.

gabbo  said about 4 years ago:

c'mon... any sad swannies out there in need of a whinge?

astralwerkor  said about 4 years ago:

Nah, but I will say this....GO EAGLES!!!!!!

moses  said about 4 years ago:

it was worth losing just to see lloyd getting booed off stage

fuck i hate that guy.

andyr  said about 4 years ago:

Hooray!

gabbo  said about 4 years ago:

what's he ever done to you? :)

next week, Bombers vs Eagles.

Anything could happen.

Go Bombers!

TagoMago  said about 4 years ago:

I don't like to think of myself as a pessimistic Essendon supporter, but honestly guys, lets put our jackets away, we won't be waving them. Not that i'll care, i'll be on a high from last nights win for about 10 months.

gabbo  said about 4 years ago:

oh yeah, i don't think there are any bombers fans out there that think we are challengers, and winning slightly over 50% of our games may work against us, trade-style, but last nights win was quite fun!

devo  said about 4 years ago:

nothing better than beating the swans by a single point.

go dons

astralwerkor  said about 4 years ago:

Anything could happen.

No.

nothing better than beating the swans by a single point.

  1. Premiership. Too fucking right...

astralwerkor  said about 4 years ago:

Erm, that 1 should have been 2006, as in

-2006. Pemiership. Too fucking right...

TagoMago  said about 4 years ago:

Remember in '96, when Bombers lost by a single point twice in the one final series? First against Brisbane when Gavin Wankaneen hit the post, and then 2 weeks later against Sydney in the preliminary final when Hird got his eyes gouged out and Locket kicked that point. I think thats what made me the jaded, cynical piece of shit I am today.

gabbo  said about 4 years ago:

i blame Tony Lockett for a lot of my faults too.

TagoMago  said about 4 years ago:

Humanity blames Tony Lockett for its faults.

poprocks96  said about 4 years ago:

wankaneen ?? i loved wanga !!! why do people dislike lloyd ? is it cause he throws the grass in the air ???

good win last night. stanton, fletcher, hird were all good. slattery is playing well too.

astralwerkor  said about 4 years ago:

Bombers to bounce back with a season saving loss next week...

TagoMago  said about 4 years ago:

It's probably Lloyds incessant premeditated diving for free-kicks. If it annoys even me, imagine how much it infuriates the opposition supporters. It's like he gives up in the marking contest half the time and just waits for a faint touch to then spawl himself on the ground. But hey, it works, so good on him.

Pal  said about 4 years ago:

Ah yes, the Swan Diver.

ladyinred  said about 4 years ago:

Pops: didn't you ever call him wankaneen? It's just because it fits... Another example- Wank Carey.

bit disappointed with a fair few performances this season. Seem to still be a three quarter side.

poprocks96  said about 4 years ago:

nah, i was totes in love with wanga and would never have called him that !!!!!

we love welsh at mour house. his 50m penalty show on bomber tv is amazing

gabbo  said about 5 months ago:

might have to get onto that...

poprocks96  said about 5 months ago:

If you read over comments from 6 months ago I think the Bombers did well to make the finals this year. Supporters weren't really expecting it and I doubt the players thought they would be there either. Hopefully we will have a bit of a clean out (Dyson, Myers, Slattery all those indistinguishable dudes) and keep improving!

9th

I think thats a bit optimistic, my feeling is the bombers will be down around 12-14th

Fred Dag  said about 4 months ago:

Staying: Hille, Ryder and one of McVeigh, Welsh or NLM the other two will be delisted or forced into retirement

Trade bait: Hooker, Myers, Slattery, Gumbleton, Dyson and Davey although I doubt he would carry much currency anymore

Will be interesting to hear the outcome of Hibberd's assault case

crackwhore  said about 4 months ago:

McVeigh and Welsh surely. I'd be tempted to hang on to Bellchambers and trade Hille to Richmond. I think Hibberd maybe in trouble unfortunately.

maxkohane  said about 4 months ago:

Mcveigh is contracted along with Hille - Both of them are Essendon people and would know that kids will take their spots next year - and rightly so if they don't peform. They wouldn't be worth much in a trade anyway. In my mind Hille has another year in him.

Slattery, Myers, Gumbleton, Remiers, Davey and Jetta are all contracted next year too..

I think Welsh will hang up the boots. Since breaking his leg he hasn't been the same player.

NLM should get an extension. Very useful player. Dyson will be delisted and picked up by GWS I think. My main concern is signing up Colyer asap.

We very much need another small tough back pocket. A Quality on-baller and a defensive small goalkicker. Davey is to injury prone and mentally fragile and I think another pre-season into Jetta I think he will play a bigger role in the midfield.

Crameri, Stanton, Hurley, Zaha, Heppell and Carlisle have been fantastic! Good year all round with the exception of a few blowouts and fucking injuries!

Hey guys, Bomber blitz is having a forum footy match against demonland forum and maybe saintsational and a collingwood side. A couple of us forumers are going to play for the dee's. Some of you bombers should sign up for your side. Looks like it will be oct 16 or 23.

gabbo  said about 4 months ago:

I'm a member of bomberblitz for that reason. I know a guy who plays on the demon team. Would be good to run through him :)

Ralph Malph  said about 4 months ago:

With Brendan McCartney gone, does that leave the door open for Mark Harvey I wonder?

gabbo  said about 4 months ago:

Would be interested in this, especially as we have lost Wallis for 14 weeks as well. He'd have to be able to demonstrate the development side of his coaching which everyone got to see last year.

poprocks96  said about 4 months ago:

You don't think Harvey would still want to coach?

gabbo  said about 4 months ago:

I'm sure Bomber would tell him hiding behind James' hair is a nice, safe place to be.

nedb  said about 4 months ago:

And they could pull one puppet string each...

Ralph Malph  said about 4 months ago:

Who is going to be left to pull Buckley's strings next year? No one wants to play with him.

nedb  said about 4 months ago:

Haha! Micks doing his best there to make that happen. Bucks has and always will be a one man show...

crackwhore  said about 4 months ago:

In 93' i was living on the Gold Coast with a Brisbane Bears player ( who shall remain nameless) who was playing his last year. Often he brought team mates home for a beer (amongst other things) and i can assure you FIGJAM was the most disliked player at the club, hands down, no contest.

turkey_sandwich  said about 4 months ago:

ha.. amongst other things!

denialdemonicdisrup  said about 4 months ago:

What I love about that whole extract is Bucks' inability to see how it really does him no favours. Sheer arrogance. Everyone rated him as a captain, but I never did. Was always a selfish bastard and would constantly be getting stuck into his own players on the field, up until the later years of his career.

gabbo  said about 3 months ago:

The Bombers have also requested two matches against Greater Western Sydney, with the build-up to focus on coach James Hird, the student, taking on Kevin Sheedy, his former mentor and now the Giants coach.

Yeah, that's the reason. It's got nothing to do with 2 seemingly guaranteed wins and percentage boosting.
