Doctors near Fitzroy?

dearcassie  said about 5 years ago  or at  1:06PM on Thursday, May 17 2007 in chat

I'm sick. I need a doctor, medication and a doctor's certificate as to why I've not been at uni for two days and am going to be severely under prepared for my exams.

Also, I have little money. Does anyone know of a decent doctor in the Fitzroy area that will bulk bill? Even if not, just a good doctor would help. I can't really travel far.

Thanks.

kuroneko  said about 5 years ago:

don't we have this thread every four months?

miss katie  said about 5 years ago:

Oh sweetheart. There's a doctor clinic on the corner of Brunswick Rd and Sydney Rd that bulk bills.

dearcassie  said about 5 years ago:

yes, kuro, i did search. most of the results where from people from sydney, so sit down and be polite, thanks.

michael_horse  said about 5 years ago:

kuroneko  said about 5 years ago:

zachary, horse.

kuroneko  said about 5 years ago:

so anyway, sit down and DAFSFFS cassie.

littlearch  said about 5 years ago:

i think in this case yr fingers should do the walking

dearcassie  said about 5 years ago:

thanks for your help, but seriously, i'm sick, i need a doctor, take your trolling elsewhere.

kuroneko  said about 5 years ago:

who's trolling? Just trying to help. Horse posted a link to a thread that should give you a lot of options.

miss katie  said about 5 years ago:

Who gives a shit if there's been a thread before.

whosgotthecrack?  said about 5 years ago:

oh cassie, to be sick is enough of a bother

i know a great doctor in north carlton... she's a busy doctor, but so far i've never had to pay cash on the day, if that's the dealbreaker

michael_horse  said about 5 years ago:

"i'm sick, i need a doctor,"

that's why i posted the thread details, where this question has already been answered

also, if you're really sick, forget bulk billing and just go to your local
or to the emergency room

otherwise, suck it up, do some reading

michael_horse  said about 5 years ago:

"Who gives a shit if there's been a thread before."

perhaps the person searching ?

option 1) start a thread, wait hours for people who know the answer to reply
option 2) read the old thread, instantly find answers

kuroneko  said about 5 years ago:

help! bulk bill dr in Fitzroy?

fr3ky said about 7 months ago Anyone recommmend me one pour favor?
am tired of this cold and after a week of golden seal and astralgus i want some anibiotics without having to pay 90 dollars for a consultation.

dr nick?

michael_horse said about 7 months ago: i can suggest one in brunswick only :(

if you can be bothered walking to royal parade for a tram ... pagey said about 7 months ago: dr bond out the back of the chemist on smith st opposite safeway. he only consults until around 2pm though. fr3ky said about 7 months ago: suggest away horse, i have a petrol guzzling little hatch to take me there :) loveisafist said about 7 months ago: i think the one at 75 brunswick st bulk bills... don't have their number, tho. sorry. Dan_Crad said about 7 months ago: There's one in Rathdowne Village in Carlton North. Pip. said about 7 months ago: Carlton Clinic on rathdowne st bulk bills if you are a student/have a health care card.
And they are really nice.

Also both chemists on smith st have GPs on site that bulk bill. ModifiedIndie-an said about 7 months ago: If you have a cold, antibiotics aren't going to do you any good. Same goes for flu. If you have secondary infections can I suggest you eat about five or more whole garlic cloves before doing anything with the doctor. And eat the hottest curry you can muster for dinner. postop said about 7 months ago: I think there is one near where I live, on the corner of Brunswick Road and Sydney Road. Opposite the 7 11 Dan_Crad said about 7 months ago: "Carlton Clinic on rathdowne st bulk bills if you are a student/have a health care card."

I work full-time and don't have a health care card and they still bulk billed me! As pip said, very nice indeed. ModifiedIndie-an said about 7 months ago: Just take my advice, then go to the doctor tomorrow. What have you got to lose. michael_horse said about 7 months ago: "I think there is one near where I live, on the corner of Brunswick Road and Sydney Road. Opposite the 7 11"

yah, that's what i was gonna surprise fr3ky said about 7 months ago: ive done all the above and more modi. it feels like a chest infection so antibiotics might help. i generally take the 'rest and natural methods' way unitl it drags out for so long and it becomes obvious i cant do it on my own. i have a lousy immune system from cfs a few years ago so im unfortnuately quite used to getting sick..

thanks for the help kids :) michael_horse said about 7 months ago: surprise ??????

SURPRISE ???????

suggest, also fr3ky said about 7 months ago: maybe i could pick up your prescription also horse?
;P ModifiedIndie-an said about 7 months ago: So it's not a cold then. Yeah, okay. The garlic trick has helped me on a number of occasions when a chest infection was hanging around way too long. Most times antibiotics don't even help you get better faster anyway, like as in only a couple of hours difference, but if it's chronic, then get in there, I reckon. angelic_layer said something about 7 months ago, now irrelevant ... Moving along or Show Anyway. angelic_layer said about 7 months ago: Actually, Bad Idea ... Hide This!! I feel for ya fr3ky..take it easy..I know what its like to have a fucked immune system. fr3ky said about 7 months ago: yeah garlic is a bit of a super drug in itself. i have a whole garlic and half a fist sized ginger in a tomato soup when i feel ill. i get a tonic of golden seal, astralgus, echinacea and sambuccus made for me, along with some vitmain A, beta carotene, C, and zinc. That mix should clear things up in 2 days, max 3, otherwise its onto the dr and pharmacy. sister said about 7 months ago: I've also had enough of the fighting it on my own. I'm going on thursday if I don't get better before hand. postop said about 7 months ago: A surprising suggestion, perhaps muddle_horse? rigid said about 7 months ago: Try Dr David Bergin, corner Nicholson and Freeman. Opposite the Royal Oak. He bulk bills. He's a bit of a fag though. davethescot said about 7 months ago: I was going to suggest dr burgin as well, rigid said about 7 months ago: When he touches my arm I feel uncomfortable. It's a slight, though not inconsequential breach of the doctor-patient relationship. rigid said about 7 months ago: But at least he bulk bills. davethescot said about 7 months ago: Can't say i've ever had a problem with him, and i have been going to him since i moved here seven years ago. My only thing is he is a bit quick to try and push the drugs. rigid said about 7 months ago: That guy diagnosed me with cancer too. But I suppose that's a good thing. fr3ky said about 7 months ago: i got an appointment tommorrow at 10 at 75 brunswick st. The secretary was bloody daft in an "our kbnobs go up to eleven" kind of way tho.

all the others were booked up till saturday at least..
thanks again everybody! loveisafist said about 5 months ago: can anybody please give me the number for dr. david bergin?

also, if anybody can offer more info re the GPs at both smith st chemists - do they have GPs on site at all times? loveisafist said about 5 months ago: hmmmm? Coz said about 5 months ago: "I think there is one near where I live, on the corner of Brunswick Road and Sydney Road. Opposite the 7 11"

yah, that's what i was gonna surprise

That's my one too - Brunswick Betta Health, I see Dr Balaam. She's excellent, the first GP I've actually happy with in a long time. Having a 24hr chemist on site is great too. heirsandgraces said about 5 months ago: the north yarra community health centre on brunswick street, right near the rob roy

dearcassie  said about 5 years ago:

whosgotthecrack - that sounds great. normally i dont mind paying cash but i have about twenty bucks in my account until tuesday so bulkbilling is ideal.

littlearch  said about 5 years ago:

try looking up doctors or medical centres in the yellow pages or the white pages on line

it will get you a lot further a lot quicker and will save clogging up this board with pointless irrelevant threads

i'm sorry yr sick cassie but m+n is not a medical referral service

miss katie  said about 5 years ago:

yes yes yes yes yesssssssssssssssss.

Jeebus.

I just read your point, and I concur.

dearcassie  said about 5 years ago:

right rach, sorry, just thought i could get some info on who's good and who's not but you are right, m&n is not a medical referral service let alone some where people act like people with a minute amount of decency.

littlearch  said about 5 years ago:

oh get over yrself

michael_horse  said about 5 years ago:

"let alone some where people act like people with a minute amount of decency."

like, answering a question, and giving advice on how better to do it next time
you're right, how rude of us

kuroneko  said about 5 years ago:

makes note not to bother posting anything helpful again

svelteslacks  said about 5 years ago:

i was just skim reading that and i agree with it's garlic sentiment.

everyone should be eating heaps of fresh garlic cloves leading into winter and flu season. the trick is to boost your immunity and avoid getting the flu, not treating it when you've got it.

anyway, that's what i reckon.

dearcassie  said about 5 years ago:

garlic is great stuff, agreed. unfortunately this isn't a flu - but maybe garlic will help anyway? i've no idea.

filterfeed  said about 5 years ago:

this is great. where's my popcorn already/

whosgotthecrack?  said about 5 years ago:

and yeah, good point

lemon, honey, garlic, george clooney movies...

miss katie  said about 5 years ago:

like, answering a question, and giving advice on how better to do it next time
you're right, how rude of us

hehe

You won't win this argument cass. They pride themselves on being 'helpful.'

kuroneko  said about 5 years ago:

"they"?

dearcassie  said about 5 years ago:

its a nice reminder as to why i should really stop using m&n, any-how. win win.

kuroneko  said about 5 years ago:

bye then, yeesh.

michael_horse  said about 5 years ago:

"its a nice reminder as to why i should really stop using m&n, any-how. win win."

perhaps stop using it for silly purposes, yeah
but you say "win win" ... so we did help you ?

interesting

miss katie  said about 5 years ago:

You're right.

'He'.

kuroneko  said about 5 years ago:

so... thread closed, yes?

kandos  said about 5 years ago:

silly purposes?

you mean there's another purpose besides displacing personal rage and malice??

what is it?

dearcassie  said about 5 years ago:

it's a win for me - i got an appointment with a doctor thanks to whosgotthecrack, and its win for you guys cos you dont' have to put up with me anymore posting useless threads on m&n.

michael_horse  said about 5 years ago:

but katie, she admits i was helpful
and you admitted you agree with me on the point

so what's your problem ?

littlearch  said about 5 years ago:

jesus christ

anonymous  said about 5 years ago:

you called, rach?

miss katie  said about 5 years ago:

Your bedside manner could do with a little tweaking. 'Tis all. Yes, thread closed.

littlearch  said about 5 years ago:

michael_horse  said about 5 years ago:

tell you what ... when i start taking advice from you on attitude, miss katie, then it's time i started a thread on needing a doctor

Lorenzo St Dubois  said about 5 years ago:

i am enjoying this thread.

filterfeed  said about 5 years ago:

indeed. i've had a chuckle or two.

miss katie  said about 5 years ago:

weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

I love it when this happens.

Forget it.

whosgotthecrack?  said about 5 years ago:

now that cassie has got an appointment i am beginning to see an element of humour in it...

kuroneko  said about 5 years ago:

starts thread about the Pixies

AlterEgo  said about 5 years ago:

i'm ready to put my cranky pants on for the day, so i might be able to come up with something snooty soon too.

but go to yarra health ffs - theres one near the rob roy, and one on hoddle st. they bulk bill. but you have to have an appointment! suck it up and go the frickin' chemist. photocopy an old med cert and re-do the signature. piece of cake. grrrr cranky pants now on

whosgotthecrack?  said about 5 years ago:

kuro - LOL

tools  said about 5 years ago:

Scotchmer Street Medical Centre, just behind the Tin Pot, bulk bills and she's really great. Hard to get into though as there is only one doctor.
