Marrickville Metro medical centre still does.... no appointment necessary

One of the joys of living in the depressive areas is that they still exist.

littlearch  said about 5 years ago:

do you have a health care card? a lot of places only bulk bill if you have a health care card

plaidplaidgirl  said about 5 years ago:

What's your local area? My doctor bulkbills, he's located in World Square in the city.

kandos  said about 5 years ago:

where are you le_disco?

i'm pretty sure all primary health care centres still bulk bill.

RoastOxCrisps  said about 5 years ago:

i found the marrickville metro one to be the worst i've ever been to. i was deathly sick once, though i might've had meningitis, i was bordering on delirious, and this woman didn't even take my temperature.

le_disco  said about 5 years ago:

im in glebe

tried the 3 locals

world square eh? thats actually quite easy to get to

empra  said about 5 years ago:

Really Ox? I've been told by a lot of people that it's one of the good ones.

Don't go to the one on Enmore rd, same kinda deal... The bastard couldn't get me out of there fast enough.

GnomeChomsky  said about 5 years ago:

Enmore Medical Centre (cnr Enmore & Stanmore Rds) still bulk bills. There's another one on Enmore Rd near King St that bulk bills as well.

redlips  said about 5 years ago:

that's the trick with primary care...

The good ones either charge, or are really hard to get an appointment at.
the dodgy ones are free and easy to see.

GnomeChomsky  said about 5 years ago:

Whoops just read em's post. Enmore Med Centre was ok for me though.

looch  said about 5 years ago:

roastie - they are shocking.... but if you know whats wrong and just need antibiotics or a script or whatever they are OK

plaidplaidgirl  said about 5 years ago:

It's Medeco Medical Centre, it's in the Priceline. Number is 9264 8500.

le_disco  said about 5 years ago:

shineslikerubies  said about 5 years ago:

that said, get better soon! i am sick too, and i can not wait for it to go away.

steveholt  said about 5 years ago:

wipey whoever you are, in the short time i have been wasting time on m&n that is hands down the best post ive seen. v funny. kudos to you

plaidplaidgirl  said about 5 years ago:

I'm pretty sure too much partying has also led to me requiring repeated trips to the doctor...but I'm just so susceptible to peer pressure.

kandos  said about 5 years ago:

le_d -

leichhardt medical centre (30-38 short st leichhardt) bulk bills. it's a primary health centre.

Getting healthy - Stage One: preparation. For this you will need: one room which you will not leave; one mattress; tomato soup, ten tins of; mushroom soup, eight tins of, for consumption cold; ice cream, vanilla, one large tub of; Magnesia, Milk of, one bottle; paracetamol; mouth wash; vitamins; mineral water; Lucozade; pornography; one bucket for urine, one for feces, and one for vomitus; one television; and one bottle of Valium, which I have already procured, from my mother, who is, in her own domestic and socially acceptable way, also a drug addict.

Q: are there any good bulk bill doctors on the North Shore?

Does this mean you've had the same shitty service at the Chatswood Medical Centre as I have?

Peter  said about 2 years ago:

been registered with a doc there for years. he's alright, quite elderly compared to most others ('cept, of course, other doctors at the Chattie Med Cent, where he's about average age...) I've only used him for check-ups & test certificates for specific licenses and stuff. i am currently browsing for a new GP.

CaptainFez  said about 2 years ago:

I go to Anna Fricke(r) (sp?) at Turramurra on Kissing Point Road. I can recommend that practice pretty well - one's an ex-Navy medico - but I'm uncertain if they bulk bill. I don't think they do - but they do have signs up about that whole Medicare claim-at-the-doctor's deal, so maybe that would work for you.

QueenElizabeth  said about 2 years ago:

New bulk-billing clinic in Preston cnr High St and Wood St (opposite The Preston pub). No appointment necessary. Huge waiting room so you can move away from lepers and builders as required.

Gripe  said about 1 year ago:

Why does everyone want a Medicare GP? Look at it.....Medicare came in 30 years ago. Back then they got paid about $25 to see a patient. Now they get about $35. What was the average income back then? What is it now? The cost of what GPs get paid by bulk billing has not increased inthe same way thet other costs have increased. Even the cost of bread or petrol has increased more.

They are only allowed to see 4 patients in an hour, so that is $140 in an hour, but that is not what they get paid. They still have to pay for their cost to work in the office - usually at 40% of their billings, so that means they only get at most $85 for an hours work. But this also does not take into account allowances for sick (because if they are sick they do not get paid) and superannuation, and annual leave. Take that all into account, then they probably only get a wage of about $50 an hour at most. This still does not count their medical indemnity insurance.

Any why would you be happy to pay an accountant $100 or $200 to do your books, or a lawyer $300-500 an hour, but not willing to pay to see a GP when you are sick? Many would even pay a plumber or electrician $100-200 to come out, just to have a look, and then they charge extra for the work they do.

People say it is because you pay the Medicare Levy....well that does not just go to GPs for bulk billing, that goes into the public hospital system and PBS, so you can go to a hospital for free or get medications cheaply.

Why would someone want to go through medical school for 6 or more years, go through further training, to come out at the end with a job that only pays $50/hour? When they could do something like be a lawyer or accountant and charge their clients $100-500/hour?

And then you complain about the service. What do you expect if you are not even willing to pay for your own health care?

Sunnyboyz  said about 1 year ago:

Looks like someone upset the doctor.

Tsk tsk tsk...

Gripe  said about 1 year ago:

I am just an advocate for bulk billing GPs. I work in management and research in the public health sector. I know plenty of doctors. And I know plenty of people who see doctors. I just do not understand why people want to have a service from a doctor but not willing to pay. They will pay $3 for a cup of coffee everyday, a regular cost, but for something that is major and serious, and may be a once off payment, they are not willing to pay?

And look at what you are getting. Looks like lots are complaining about the Bulk Bill GPs, the service they get. Well what do you expect. If you want a free clinic, and everyone else does, you will end up having to wait in line. You do not want to pay, then you will get a service that you paid for.

Also I wanted to see if I can stir!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
