Pagey, I looked out for Cafe Romantica. Do you mean Cafe L'Amour? That's the only one that was open at half-five this morning..

poprocks96  said about 3 years ago:

go to singhs take away restaurant on nicholson st. its a hole in the wall kinda place with fantastic food.

do not go to singhs restaurant on lygon st, brunswick.

pagey  said about 3 years ago:

lygon st, just north of brunswick rd. i recommend the biryani and the pumpkin madras.

pagey  said about 3 years ago:

it's just down from cafe l'amour, lion.

imaginarylion  said about 3 years ago:

OK, I'm getting two conflicting opinions. What do I do? Help!

poprocks96  said about 3 years ago:

i had a bad experience at singhs on lygon a while back and wont go back......thats all.

pagey  said about 3 years ago:

i prefer the food at singh's lygon to nicholson

what's wrong with lygon pops?

pagey  said about 3 years ago:

xpost

poprocks96  said about 3 years ago:

pagey, i went there once with horse and lesavvy and we were served raw chicken ! they said they would microwave it better for us but it came back pink.

they were suprised when we refused to pay for it.

imaginarylion  said about 3 years ago:

We're going to have all veggies, so that won't be an issue...

But that is terrible. Awful service, too!

pagey  said about 3 years ago:

ick. i eat there fairly regularly and have never had a problem, but have never ordered meat.

i have always found the food there to be great.

nikkster  said about 3 years ago:

My favourite is Thaila Thai on Lygon... but they used to be closed on Mondays, not sure if thats still the case..

The East Brunswick does $10 parma on Tuesday

Fish Bones on Lygon does a pretty good version of Fish & Chips (+ Calamari) for $10

zooey  said about 3 years ago:

plus they are totally rude and seem to hate young people!

on nicholson st, they are the awesomest and are always lovely and make me special meals!!!

there's an awesome japanese place on the corner of barkly and lygon. they have a whole vegie menu but you have to ask for it. it's a fave with the parents. i also enjoy the eggplant dish and the sizzling samosas at the yogi di daba which is a few down from the japanese place. they're always open on mondays so i always end up there.

the thai place on lygon near glen lyon is good, but pricey.

carmellos on the corner of nicholson and brunswick road is aussie woodfired pizza and DELICIOUS! i think they're open tonight. otherwise, i got heaps of nasi goreng leftovers...

poprocks96  said about 3 years ago:

there is an awesome lebanese restaurant on lygon st called Rumi....you might have to book though. also a bit pricey, but fucking awesome.

zooey  said about 3 years ago:

warning: i got meat in my vegie dish there... and i got meat samosas by mistake once. i hate that place - so rude. sorry.

they do a decent pizza there, so long as you don't order the romantica special.

Gorn  said about 3 years ago:

Matsumoto japanese -across the road from singhs lygon- is awesome. Reasonably priced too.

anonymous  said about 3 years ago:

but a roasted ham hock from the barkley square deli.

ALL ANYONE EVER NEEDS!

Not far the newest bar on the North side of the Lygon Street block, El Corathon, is an okay little daggy Indian joint that's pretty cheap, although they were cheaper till last month, stiil okay though.
Shanghai Ling at 180 Lygon St, Brunswick east.

Zia Teresa's is my aunt's restaurant. But too expensive, Italian home style, that's where Gatto dines and Condello used to too. Trivial information for you.
They also fimed the Australian movie Proof there, lotsa pics on the wall.

paula's is great for Gelati.

unvisible  said about 3 years ago:

Kake di Hatti is great, but they almost always fuck takeaway orders up. The Chinese place near the corner of Lygon/Glenlyon always smells great, but the food I've had there has always been pretty average.

hanoijane  said about 3 years ago:

imaginary... next time come to mine for dinner!

hanoijane  said about 3 years ago:

hey six six six...
the mcdonalds in between imaginary's and my house is the first halal mcdonalds in australia.
catering to the peeps.

imaginarylion  said about 3 years ago:

Missy - which bits of Proof were filmed there? I'm trying to picture it but all I can think of is Russell Crowe's white bum. I'll have to watch it again I reckon.

We went to Yogi Da Dhaba. It was good. I feel really, really ill right now though.

On the way home my buddy reckoned she saw the Coburg sex attacker and freaked out and dragged me into Video Ezy to hide. Then the dude came into the store! Scary. We are safe though.

imaginarylion  said about 2 years ago:

The Yogi Da Dhaba website is no more :(

I wonder if they deliver to Thornbury?

Tell me good indian takeaway places in Thornbury/Northcote that deliver.

Evelyn  said about 2 years ago:

Thaila Thai. Thaila Thai. By the way: Thaila Thai. Love it so much. Gonna go there now.

Evelyn  said about 2 years ago:

dang. Closed.

imaginarylion  said about 2 years ago:

I found one! Bombay Crown in High St, Thornbury. It's GOOD. And new, so you should all go and spend your money there so that they don't close down.

k2  said about 2 years ago:

The Sun Vietnamese is pretty good - across the road from thaila thai - then gelobar for dessert.
