mellygoround  said about 5 years ago:

Hey girlwho, I was thinking exactly the same thing but just got a faxer saying Tom Hanks is going to produce!!!

What the fuck?? He will taint our soil and poison our water supplies. It's un-Australian, damn it.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO to Tom Hanks!!!!!!!!!

Uh, hi overground... I'm not sure who you are. Should I know?

thegirlwhocrieddave  said about 5 years ago:

he may get stranded on an island on the way here melly, we can only hope...

knomadix  said about 5 years ago:

trying to get some work on this sucker is proving pretty difficult.

McGauz  said about 5 years ago:

not meaning to brag or name-drop.. but the guitarist in my band is working on this film at the moment, building props/models etc, and met Spike Jonze the other week. From all accounts.. is gonna be rather interesting

knomadix  said about 5 years ago:

yeah, N was trying to get us a hook-up on it.

Goodbye_beret!  said about 5 years ago:

This is awesome!

Angus  said about 5 years ago:

Will the producers be busing in Queensland crews, as per Ghostrider and many others...?

Anyone here familiar with the payroll tax issue? I've heard many horror stories from gaffers/grips/DPs etc concerning past productions & inability to find work

And did you know that if you go to Melbourne Studios there is no lighting rig in the fucking studio ceiling?! For insurance reasons. So productions have to provide it themselves, and bear the insurance cost in that regard. I wonder what concessions were made to the "Wild Things.." production regarding this?

I'm sick of international productions being given carte blanche down here, at the expense of local productions, so that politicians can say "Look at our healthy film industry"

I love the "Wild Things..." book & Maurice Sendak, and I like Spike Jonze, but I'll be skeptical about this production and how beneficial it is for Melbourne until we learn the finer details.

yourmum  said about 5 years ago:

If you have wear this suit, getting work as an extra on the film should be pretty easy.

ladyborlando  said about 5 years ago:

Spike Jones will be interesting... this is something Tim Burton should have thought of first.

Goodbye_beret!  said about 5 years ago:

Yeah I thought he was doing it.

svelteslacks  said about 5 years ago:

here's one for the melbourne people:

23 july - 29th october at the jewish museum of australia, there is a 'where the wild things are - maurice sendak in his own words and pictures' exhibition.

it features images and stuff taken from the original work which is housed in an archive in the states.

the postcard advertising the exhibition is rad. they chose the best picture for it.

knomadix  said about 5 years ago:

Hey Angus... either way, it will be the highest quality film to be shot in melb for a while..

That's a good thing for melbourne crews. Do you know how much it sucks working your guts out to bring someones 'vision' (read peice of shit) to the screen??

would've been good if they hadn't talked at all.

eucrid_eucrow  said about 2 years ago:

Saw it last night, thought it was a total downer. Can't understand the logic of turning beloved childhood characters into whiny, narcissistic bores. The first leaping about scene was great but what was the point of the clod fight? And the soundtrack is awful.

Modi  said about 2 years ago:

What could be more narcissistic than their cry in the book ''We'll eat you up, we love you so''?

If they can't keep Max, no one can have him...

djbollocks  said about 2 years ago:

Down with the haterz. This film fucking rules.

kcor  said about 2 years ago:

Eh. I'm a hater.

tadatadatada  said about 2 years ago:

i thought it was pretty decent. the whole bob and terry section should have been cut though.
i did like how the fort looked like the death star, very funny.
saw it in those cinemas under the sofitel on collins street, awesome discovery, only three other people in the cinema and it seemed to be $7 monday discount, I'm never going to nova on a tuesday to see a general release again.

mrb  said about 2 years ago:

I found it really dull after a great opening. lazy storytelling. But I've always found Spike an overrated annoying director.

devilwillride  said about 2 years ago:

I agree with anok and albert four dots.

slothman  said about 2 years ago:

update on the nephew seeing this with his class: his sister says ''he HATED it''

eucalyptus  said about 2 years ago:

the whole bob and terry section should have been cut though.

That was my favourite part, hilarious. I liked it, 3.5 spuds.

svelteslacks  said about 2 years ago:

this was such a boring pile of shit, we turned it off after nearly falling asleep. what a let down.

nerdalert  said about 2 years ago:

ditto svelte slacks!

We fell asleep then woke up and turned it off halfway through.
SO BORING.

history  said about 2 years ago:

I'm trying to figure out why you'd change the best thing about the (10 page) book and add in that stupid dirt throwing scene.

runoutgroove  said about 1 year ago:

got to see this at last....

this was such a boring pile of shit, we turned it off after nearly falling asleep. what a let down.

yep. totally agree.

And the soundtrack is awful.

yep. totally agree there too. very disappointing all round.

dj  said about 1 year ago:

Maurice Sendak passed away this morning

woolfat  said 15 days ago:

I have nothing now but praise for my life. I’m not unhappy. I cry a lot because I miss people. They die and I can’t stop them. They leave me and I love them more. … What I dread is the isolation. … There are so many beautiful things in the world which I will have to leave when I die, but I’m ready, I’m ready, I’m ready.
– Maurice Sendak (from his 2011 NPR interview)

Arthurly  said 15 days ago:

Sendak was not a fan of ebooks, stating, > ''Fuck them is what I say, I hate those e-books. They can not be the future… they may well be… I will be dead, I won’t give a shit!''

pollyphonic  said 15 days ago:

Sendak was definitely an original.

Vale
