I will be tomorrow after a four year stint. Giving them a month. Anyone done this recently. Would like to know how long it took you to find a job??

woudln't it be better to find a job then resign?
Normally I would agree with you, but I can't see how you can go to interviews and the such while your still doing full time work.
and that I'm completely over the place.
usually other places are pretty good with this and sensitive to it and organise early morning and evening interviews
i gave my last employers 6 months notice (i was kinda managing a department there). that was probably a bit excessive in retrospect.
had casual work organised within a day or two of leaving.
although i've since found someone who gave his employers a whole year warning...
That's what I was hoping someone would say dub!
i'd been there on and off since 1998 though, full time-ish since 2001.
too long in one job, methinks.
I see way to many people in my place who have been there 10-15 years plus and believe you me, they are not the happiest bunch of people in the world..,.
Just about to go and do it...
Shitting. My. Self.
So, we've got:
Add GnomeChomsky to that list - woot!
Um... how do I resign formally? It's been a while...
in writing, congrats, what is the new job?
I'm going from large financial corporation to small not-for-profit organisation. Slightly less money but now I don't have to hate myself everyday for making the rich richer.
Thanks ohyeah, I'll PM you the actual place. Not sure if I should be posting stuff like that on the internet.
Maybe you should moon your immediate boss with "I" and "resign" written on each bumcheek. I reckon they'll get the drift...
Congrats on the new job Gnomey, you've been wanting this fer a while and you've made it happen!
Thanks dude. Power to the little guy!
Did this today as well. God it feels good to feel powerful for a change.
Fucken THUMBS UP GNOMEY! If I wasn't sick as a dog i'd come over and give you a hug for happiness.
Send me the name of the place!
Thanks dude! PM coming your way...
anyone got a template letter? i can feel it in my bones today.

well done big fella.
i just resigned!
I FEEL FANTASTIC.
and frightened.
ROLLERCOASTER!
congratulations. resigning is (sometimes) tops.
I resigned from my sales job on Monday, I am now in the process of looking for a new career, I am quietly shitting myself.
Yes yes yes! What a crazy feeling. Kinda short-lived though.... now I gotta find something else pronto!
i didn't resign so much as tell my second job not to roster me on until further notice. that felt pretty good.
Good lucky Jazzy! It's tough out there ATM in jobland so make sure your resume is to the point & looks good :)
Jazzy's getting a job as an ATM? That does sound tough!
I've just been through the same thing Jazzy. It's not as bad as you probably feel like it is. Watch Fight Club again and try not to stress too much!
Jobs are bullshit anyway.
They're mainly for people who cannot stop spending.
Look at me... I am Spending! Yipee! If I stopped spending the whole world would go to shit! Hooray for expansion!
The end.
One too many pointless meetings, loadie? Or did you get a better offer?
Work. Grrrrrrrr.
block, unfotunately in my line of work pointless meetings are the norm wherever you go...
no better offer yet! but my end date is october, so plenty of time.
Wow! No millionare factory in Woombie?
I really hope to be contributing to this thread in the near future.
Really need to do this today. Ugh. Hate having that talk.
w00t! congrats loadie!
Celebratory dinks next week?
YES PLEASE :)
notice given.
weird feeling.
CELEBRATE!
Here's the best way to resign:
approach your supervisor (preferably before an audience of your colleagues) and, as you strip down to your smalls, inform said supervisor that it's quittin' time.
Works better if you're a chick. And far better if you're forced to wear a uniform.
I've saw this happen at the Forestville RSL club back in the day. She was a hot chick as well, so I should also add that if you're a fatso boombah, write a letter of resignation instead.
