Like to march to the beat of your own drum? Sing to the tune of your own trumpet? Wiggle to the waddle of your own duck? Then the colour parade may be just the jaunt for you!
On Saturday 21ST of APRIL, Sydney’s kookiest will be downing their froot loops and marching, hopping and corralling from Town Hall steps to Victoria Park, Broadway.
At the Park inhibitions will be shed to engage anyone whose interested in fun and games. The aim is simple – to strip bare the pretension for which Sydney-siders are infamous and spread the luuurve baby.
The Colour Parade joins forces with the LoveLorn Living Party who were the toast of this years Peat’s Ridge Festival following their efforts inside the Bohemian Love Theatre. Kookiness is catching –you have been warned!
With juggling, acrobatics and fire-twirling from the sparks at Circusoc and a giant game of ‘Twister’, there’s plenty to see and do. So whether you want get impromptu and join in the shenanigans or simply stand on the sidelines and gawk –this parade is sure to be a crowd-pleaser. Bubbles will be blown.
Resisting pressure to tie the parade to a political cause, the chief marchers have kept the theme simple. Its an opportunity to be the most fabulous YOU, to deepen your community and celebrate its diversity. To paint Sydney with a little colour and magic and hopefully open a few eyes that are wide shut.
Documenting this unprecedented display of Sydney’s sub-cultures will be a crew from the Power House Museum - as if we needed even more reason to get on the instant glam. Show-ponies unite –your time has come!
So dig out those flares, bring back the bow-tie and grab a camera. The Colour Parade is waiting to take you away….
