the bruce springsteen thread

whatwhat  said about 4 years ago  or at  12:22AM on Wednesday, April 11 2007 in music

so given my obsession with bruce at the moment, should i get "tracks"?

"darkness on the edge of town" is doing my head in at the moment. got everything from "born to run" (30th anniversary ed.) to "born in the usa", and then from "the essential" (incorporating best bits of "the rising", which i listened to ad nauseum when working in retail) up to the 'american land' edition of "we shall overcome".

any glaring omissions that i NEED to chase down? is "tracks" worth it?

I assume you've got the Chats Choice- 'Nebraska'?

whatwhat  said about 4 years ago:

as i said - "born to run" thru to "born in the usa". "nebraska" is my second fave of that run after "born to run", although "the river" is way under-rated and "darkness" is all i can listen to at the moment.

can't wait to hear "born in the usa" when it's re-released and remastered to temper those overt synth flourishes that ruin a couple of steamingly good tunes.

Listening to the new album now.

Sounds pretty Pearl Jam-ish, which is okay by me.

medicineman  said about 4 years ago:

pearl jam ish???

that isn't a good sign

though i still can't wait to hear it

TheOtherGuyFromWham  said about 4 years ago:

Well, it's probably more than PJ are very Bruce influenced.

Also, Brendan O'Brien produces both of their stuff.

A woman snapped and stabbed her partner to death after he objected to her listening to Bruce Springsteen music, a court has been told.

The Supreme Court in Brisbane today heard Karen Lee Cooper, 50, used a long-bladed kitchen knife to stab 49-year-old Kevin Watson once in the chest because she ''just got tired'' of him bossing her around.

She pleaded guilty today to manslaughter and was sentenced to eight years jail.

The court was told the pair had been drinking at their rented home at Cedar Vale, south of Brisbane, on July 8, 2006, when an argument broke out over Cooper's choice of music.

Defence lawyer Greg Maguire said Cooper experienced a ''brain snap'' and ran to the kitchen and grabbed a knife, which she used to stab Mr Watson after he said he didn't want to listen to a Bruce Springsteen CD.

''I mean, who the hell doesn't like Bruce Springsteen, for God's sake?'' she later told arresting police.

''I just picked up a knife and I went 'boom'.''

The knife pierced Mr Watson's aorta and oesophagus, and he died at the scene.

Ah, once again a tempting thread! I feel as though you're STRINGing me along, but alas, I must declare my love for The Boss. I too was 'Born To RUN'. In fact, it would be my motto if I wasn't so sure that The Boss had perhaps PATENTed it first.

Love,
The Shoe

Sunnyboyz  said about 2 months ago:

No I use a spare old pair of pants to clean up my manjuice.

garumph  said about 2 months ago:

Ha!

For the record, I've never ''got'' Springsteen. Much to a few people's chagrin. I don't mind Nebraska occasionally, tho.
