gawd, sometimes i love myjob!!
further to the thread about the reformation, i am now listening to a recording from the brisbane show.
i got you.
superb.
the recording is a bit ordinary, but it sounds great.
btw, they're still looking for someone to replace me here in approximately 10 days. pm me.

i just put on dizrythmia. just thought someone might want to know.
Time and Tide: genius. Haul Away is one of their best.
terrific!
I was back in NZ for Xmas and I see they are playing a NZ tour in Feb. What are the chances of a few shows in Oz....?
that would be tremendous.
dizrythmia is such a solid record.
''Returned Enz
Split Enz have announced a three-date New Zealand tour for early next year. The legendary Kiwi band's 'True Colours' line-up - featuring Tim Finn, Neil Finn, Eddie Rayner, Noel Crombie and Nigel Griggs - will play Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch dates in March, 2008. The same line-up reformed in 2006 for a short Australian tour and received critical praise. The shows highlighted the band's musicianship rather than just as a display of a string of golden hits.''
Is this on? Any confirmation of dates, venues etc? (I know it's on the other side of the trough but some of us though cash-poor have frequent flyer points aplenty.)
1982
i have the 2cd version of luton and it's way way better than i expected... 'hollow victory' is especially great, + the second cd has some pretty amazing moments on it.
aw, i got your message too late...
I saw Split Enz in the 80s at a free Christmas concert that went a bit violent afterwards, up on Queen Street, Auckland. They are/ were an amazing pop band with a great image and unforgettable songs. Even my dad (who's 70) loves them to bits.
One Step Ahead just came on iTunes random, thats a kick arse yacht rock guitar sound.
bump
because 'mental notes' is a great album
i'd apply paulie's use of tremendous to stranger than fiction (mental notes version). particularly the bit where tim cracks up whilst singing. what a record!
did anyone get the recent remaster of this? i'm hesitant to buy it AGAIN (like, 3rd copy of it) but i'm keen to hear if it's much better.
So ahh, Phil likes young girls
That's so wrong,
no doubting his craziness i just didn't know it extended to this kind of thing. eurgh.
i'm pretty sure he wrote a song once (in schnell fenster) called heroes let you down. indeed. he's still written some of my favourite music ever.
that phil story is so creepy when the mum asked him to stop photographing her daughters and his response was that its a park and he can do whatever he wants. made me feel so sick.
today i remembered about i walk away
i wouldn't want to listen to it every day but i like it
I have the first 3 albums at home on vinyl. I've been waiting for the right time to get them out and really discover them, as i've yet to give them much attention.
my appreciation is pretty much singles-based, although i used to quite like true colours
crowded house doing this is massive on rock arena
now that i think about it crowded house did a version of i walk away on an early b-side
Sensational band.
Love in my heart to all of you who understand their brilliance!
