poprocks96  said about 5 years ago:

I wouldn't have thought so.

fastcanoe  said about 5 years ago:

I know I've done it once before, can't recall if that was the direct entry route or not though pops. I don't possess a CAN anymore so I canna check.

poprocks96  said about 5 years ago:

Sole traders - Balance sheet?

What is this? Is this another thing centrelink was meant to send me but didn't, or can I run up something on word that says ''Assets: Me, Liabilities:Me''

I have no assets or liabilities, and couldn't be arsed claiming the 0.000006% of my mobile bill that's used in the scope of my ''business''

goldbuttons  said about 3 years ago:

I'm a little confused - went into Centrelink yesterday to ask about Youth Allowance as I have plans to move out, and they gave me 'Unreasonable to live at home' forms which ask all sorts of heavy questions which I don't think apply to me - for those on it, do they give these forms to everyone wanting to move out or has the lady just given me the wrong forms? I'm not being abused or anything I just think it's time I leave home..

runaredlight!  said about 3 years ago:

i think if your parents are earning a significant amount and you have not earned your independence (something like 16,000 a financial year?), then there has to be a reason, whether it be unreasonable living conditions at home or something else before they give you anything.

runaredlight!  said about 3 years ago:

not 100% sure, so i wouldn't take that as gospel.

lokihanns  said about 3 years ago:

Ummm, those are to prove your independence. You have to have earned a certain amount in the last 18 months or have a valid reason that you can't live at home to declare independence.

my thoughts exactly.

goldbuttons  said about 3 years ago:

Well I've been working for more than 18 months so that bit should be ok, but I know people still living at home without any job who are on Youth Allowance so I don't see why I shouldn't be eligible if I'm looking to move out and I'm still studying full time, I just don't see why I have to lie and say that my living conditions at home are atrocious when they're not...

seriously doubt that ''dept of human services'' as they are now called are going to contact your potential employer. do you really think they have time to call each and every one of those numbers you fill out on the form? chill. if it really worries you then next time don't put the jobs you really want on the form.

wintertime  said about 8 months ago:

I'm not ashamed, but my employers might look negatively upon it. There's obviously a stigma on being on unemployment benefits, it's an extra risk if they know. I've been told they can check your applications, so do I just not put this one down?

anonymous  said about 8 months ago:

you're being ridiculous.

nishiki  said about 8 months ago:

they might audit you but it's not likely. don't put it down if it's going to haunt you.

wintertime  said about 8 months ago:

you don't think that there is a stigma?

anonymous  said about 8 months ago:

maybe, if you've been unemployed for 2 years or more. The workforce is pretty transient/flexible these days, so having some history of centrelink in the past isn't as bad as it was.

You'll get to the interview and they may ask what you're doing now, what do you say? Same issue I assume.

By the time centrelink get around to ringing them, if they do (and as nishiki said, chances are slim) you'll probably know if you have the job or not so it'll be irrelevent. They're not going to give you the job and then take it away because you were trying to eat and pay rent in the meanwhile. Also, surely its better to have actual jobs you applied for on there then just taking them off seek.

Can I claim new start if I'm going to be unemployed for two months, but have $3000 in my account?

Davel  said about 5 months ago:

Yes

Coz  said about 5 months ago:

Nope, you've got to have less that $2000. At least, that was the figure about 5 years ago.

Just shift a bit into a savings account and only tell them about your transaction account.

lmc  said about 5 months ago:

you need a separation certificate from your old employer. transfer your money into a friend or family members account (one that won't spend it).

Davel  said about 5 months ago:

You don't have to transfer anything. Total fiction.

Coz  said about 5 months ago:

And there's a waiting period if you quit your job voluntarily too, so make sure you do something really fucked up to get yourself fired.

toadphoney  said about 5 months ago:

Plus you have to look poor.

eucalyptus  said about 5 months ago:

I work as a casual relief teacher... so I was never on contract, but have to wait till term 1 next year. Can easily get by with what I got, but figure if I can get it... may as well.

I'll run some soot in my face before the interview.

eucalyptus  said about 5 months ago:

i'll rub it in too

Hellzapoppin  said about 5 months ago:

The cut off is $3000, so just withdraw $100 and don't worry about it. There is often a wait this time of the year to 'get on', but you'll be backpayed.
