Yes, should have been an addition to the cool amps thread, but hey.
Anyone know of any good twin speaker goldentones selling at a nice price in melbourne currently?
I'd like a good, cost effective, portable tube amp to use on stage, cos my piece of shit no-name transistor amp that breaks up constantly is becoming embarrassing to use at gigs.
Thanking you, cyber-sleuths.

ooga booga piggle wiggle.
Aaargh! Don't mention Goldentones.
I killed a perfectly good one that I borrowed on the weekend. It's upsetting.
Do you think they're good amps?
Yes, I really do. They sound amazing. Not sure about the "cost effectiveness" considering my recent experience but the owner told me he's been using it at least twice a week for three years, always with everything on "full" and this was the first problem he's had.
...and the other Goldentone in that band is likewise always run with everything on 10 and never fails. Timebomb has a few adverse comments about them but still loves them. Apparently the quality varies a bit from amp to amp so you've gotta get lucky with the amp you get.
The ECSR goldentones sound rad.
These are the Goldentones we're talking about blakey.
I knowz
So Ron blew one of them up?
GOOD ONE RON!!
Sorry.
not to mention that the bass player in said band runs his bass through a 40 watt goldentone guitar amp. that is testament to their tuffness.
I has two. I love them but may have to sell in future.
My Musicman 210 65 watter is a good little tube amp - I picked it up on ebay for 1200. Breaks up beautifully around about the 3-4 mark on the gain and has some tasty built-in tremolo/reverb.
I've never had to push it past 7 on the master volume - the little fella is plenty loud.
Musicman amps are awesome - there's one at TroyHorse we sometimes borrow and it's a really wild ride.
I haven't seen a GoldenTone amp in years. I know a guy who has a GT head & 2x12 rig and he can hardly play guitar - he just noodles a bit and puts the guitar away, and the amp is used more as cool furniture than anything else
SHUT UP BLAKE303030. It was worth it for the authentic Goldentone smoke cloud. And smell. Ugh.
jokes!
Bassmaster 40. The head is inside and flips over on the top.
Reverbmaster 40 with original quadbox. Both amps have TV legs which you can screw in.
had a 60 watt goldentone head years ago..pretty good..real dark she was...a black night was that head..
black as the wind.
motherfuck. i need a sweet amp pronto, that won't send me broke.
who's selling goldentones right now?
what about musicmans? they more expensive?
my housemate got given one of these about three months ago. it's just been sitting around the house ... maybe i should give it a bash!
Sell it on ebay. People pay lots for them.

Bump! My 12 watt 1x12 still for sale! Great tone!
Seriously, if anyone is in the market for a low-powerd valve amp, these are the shit. It's not the kind of music I play, but I saw Sime Nugent rocking one of these a while back, and his clean tones were magical.
I haven't been disappointed with buying Timey's.
I want one pics? I need it..
I'll pm
Thanks for the endorsement, good sir! Totally agree. It drives beautifully at volume too, and has hands down the best amp tremolo I've ever heard. Will be sad to see her go.
Very keen will see if I have cash very quickly or quickly but need it.
It breaks up like a deluxe yeah? Mic it on stage?
Les Paul through it yeah?
bump!
Different character from a deluxe - superior in my opinion. Much richer tone. Yes, mic'ing necessary for all but very small rooms. LPs sound superb through it.
bump for my 1 x12 for sale up the thread!
What suburb? Is price negotiable?
We have a 1959 GOLDENTONE 2 x12 Combo Amp, in our collection.
One of the very very early ones.
Sounds awsommmmmmmmmmme
Spaceman1 - your pm replied!

bump! My 1758 - 12 watts still for sale as above.

and again.
Excuse me, does any one know if the Goldentone shell that was on eBay last week actually sold? No bids last time I checked but I never put it on my watch list!
bump for my goldentone for sale above!
and bump.
!
bass player in my band just put his 1965 bassmaster combo in at swoppy :(
sounds rad, but not especially loud for a bass amp. it has screw in wooden 'TV legs' (not in this picture)
this says Maton on the badge.. but it's really a Goldentone, right?
