So, Does anyone here do such activities? Is anyone going down this year? I've committed to a week down there in late August, now I jsut have to pull a bank heist. I went to Canada for 6 months a few years ago to snowboard, and partied many hards. Ahhh living in the canadian mountains...
I wanna do that 6er. How was it?
i can throw a pretty mean snowball
Yeah - I do. I've snowboarding for 13 years. Hardly missed a season where I get one day in at least. I'm gonn atry Hotham this year if it actuallt snows. I'm bummed cos last year I did NZ with no snow.....and now its crazy snow this year. I've spent a season in Chamonix and Andorra. That was great!
i did 4-5 seasons in nz on a board. is rad. haven't managed it for the past 2 seasons tho..
used to ski but havent been for years. the last time i went i tried snowboarding and very nearly broke my wrist. thought about going this season but im broke so thankfully the snow has been pretty crappy anyway
Having finally experienced snow in NZ this this year, I'm getting an urge to try sliding across it in some capacity.
Amazing Blakeness! Sitting for buses with the threat of bear attack is somewhat liberating too. Roadtrips through the Rockies, ducking down to Vancouver to see awesome bands (best of being Motorhead supported by Fu Manchu & Nashville Pussy), snowboarding every day, working but never feeling like you actually do anything. But constantly trying not to have sex with beautiful girls because you've got a girlfriend in australia who you find out was a fucktard anyway isn't so sweet, though.
Just being amongst the landscape is an amazing feeling. So quiet & isolated when you get out of the small townships.
Yeah, it seems NZ & Australia trade snowfall. We've got no motherfucking moisture up in the mountains at the moment apparently, but it's dumped in the last day or so. Fingers crossed for a kickass August.
MARSH!
i snowboard, spent a year living in thredbo. i hated it, but then i was working too hard to enjoy the snow.
the snow is pretty neat though, id love to go up there with danny.
i think we'd all love to cuddle in front of a fire with danny, in a chalet
im sure he'd love that too, michaelhorse.
you know, omitting an underscore is a bannable offense
Boarding something like Whistler is like a different sport. The short run from where I worked to the base was like a full run in Thredbo or Perisher. The backcountry was nothing short of amazing too, huge open faces of powder snow. Mmmm!
They've now got lifts in Whistler going over the back of the mountain, where we used to hike, which is amazing, but also a bit depressing.
This is where I used to work
when did you work there, 6'er ? i have a friend who worked at whistler too ...
i've been snowboarding for about 4 years .. it's totally awesome fun - i'm still a bit of a kook but don't stack too often -- try to get up to hotham for a week every season .. been really keen to try and get over to NZ but the bucks are never free flowing enough to get it happening
never skiied and never will it looks so gay
I worked with Tim Scottt's sister before I knew of Timbot.
just came back from NZ-awesome snow
i have been to the snow only once about 2 years ago for a weekend and tobogganed with the under 10's the whole time.

did you take care of things yourself or did you go with a tour outfit?
mycar's shit so i need transportation taken care of
we hired a car and some chains. my friends hired gear in mansfield, i would totally recommend that place, you are in and out in 10 minutes and the staff are great. gear is decent too. $55 per day for board/boots/clothes.
you can check bus times here.
the bus is pretty good from memory and not to expensive
...and when i say 'that place' i mean the hire shop near the centre of town, near foodworks. discount ski gear hire or something.
also, watch out for wombats. my friend almost bailed when one ran out in front of her on a run. haha.
Fuck i mst be tired, i read that as
''also, watch out for wombats. my friend almost balled one in front of a nun. haha.''
lol same diff. both would hurt.
also, v-line are stupid expensive, hire a car. less stress, you can bring friends and chains aren't that hard to drive with.
i don't know about other tour companies, probably package deals that are cheaper. but i still vote car hire.
hmmmm
last minute decision to head up to buller today for 2-3 days. leaving in two hours anyone want a lift? ho ho ho...
I heard the snows kickass at the moment
snow was great last time i was there; plus no crowds... but visibility might be bad.
i'm going again in a week or so. visibility was great when I was there, fog rolled in towards the end of the day.
here's hoping i don't hit any wombats on the runs.
I just got back, saturday was amazing, yesterday we got trapped in an electrical storm which turned into a blizzard.
I just got back too, was there all last week. HEAPS of snow and beautiful blue sky sunny days with little or no wind. had the BEST time
Im going on Friday, its a work trip... yipee. Should be fun though i cant wait to see all that snow!!!!
i got a sexy new special blend jacket which helped in the blizzard. good stuff.
Man, I wish I wasn't poor, I would buy myself a chalet and sit on the verandah with a steaming mug of gluwein and hire you shmucks to ski into trees for my amusement.
got back from buller last night. terrible visibility, but still good snow. i challenged some uni kids to a race (their uni games is on atm) and won! ha ha in your face macquarie! thanks for the beer prize!
Haha... for some reason I'm reminded of that South Park episode where the Aspen ski brats challenge ''Stan DARSH'' to a ski off down the mountain of death.
truly, my life is complete.
