nup. dont have one.
sorry
overpriced, underdone. wait a while.
fast. powerful. intelligent.
the picture in the ad shows a PS3 - doing NOTHING!
. . . and Microsoft are just about to release the XBOX 360 Elite . . . with a 120 Gig hard drive!
I have one.
Seeing as I don't have a superb LCD telly, and find a 40Gb harddrive to be very underrated for a major component of a media hub, I'll stick with my PS2.
Oh and my personal review = what tangy said.
Nintendo did it better, quicker and cheaper. Of course, I reserve the right to change this opinion when some decent games come out for the PS3.
So, is everyone here anti-ps3?
my work got one... looks pretty, plays nice, wireless controllers are great (glad they haven't changed much), and the graphics are very impressive. game wise there's nothing out yet that gets me excited (work got virtua tennis and motor storm) so i'll wait for gtaiv before taking the plunge on my own dollar.
I'm sticking with my 360 for now. The controllers feel odd due to the lack of rumble, to me they just feel too light.
anyone know about ps3 pricing..is it gonna change soon?
Played FIFA on 360 on a 100-plus centimetre LCD on the weekend. SO NICE.
might be getting one in china for cheap. mainly to play import PS2 games...

a ps3? wouldn't it be cheaper to chip a ps2?
of course
but y'know, it'll come in handy when FFXIII etc come out and i can get them months before they're converted to PAL, too
troo, troo.
But be careful using a PS3 for PS2 games as the compatibility is far from 100% from all reports...
anyone got one?
better than chuckin' a masto?
i said i had one back at the start of this thread, but got ignored. i still have one, and i'm still waiting for decent games. it's seriously underwelming so far....

Sony are removing the facility to install Linux.
not an issue for 99% of people. but still crap for the 1% that bought it for that express purpose. oh well, too bad.
ten bucks says sony have received a working proof of concept exploit that'll be announced by security researchers right after the linux block goes in next week.
i thought you couldn't install linux on slims anyway?
i tried using mkv2vob, and the ps3 couldn't find the file when i browsed my network share.
any ideas? it was saved as an mpg file, should i use something else?
just got a vinyl album with a digital download. can i just dl it on the ps3 and listen to it? or do i need to get a special player as well?
yeah i'm battling with the mkv thing right now.
united states of tara second series.
I've had no problem watching mkv files on the PS3. Though it's less than inclined to rewind them. Or fast forward past 1.5x.
are you streaming them or copying them over first?
Streaming via a media server.
I use this: http://ps3mediaserver.blogspot.com/

It'll still need codecs as far as I know, but it works pretty damn well. And transcodes awesomely too.
yeah i'm using that too. great little device. except with me and mkv files!
not to worry, plenty of avi's out there.
It is an awesome little program. Sucks that it doesn't work for you. It won't even transcode them?
doesn't seem to, not with mkv's. i know others with this problem too. maybe it's a firmware thing?
on a standard install (ie. without extra codecs), and normal install of ps3ms, .mkv's should be fine to play & to transcode. might have to fiddle around with the options a bit. i've only had a problem with maybe 1 in 100 of them, usually just takes some tweaking.
options in ps3ms or in the ps3??
in ps3ms, you shouldn't have to configure anything on the ps3. it'll most likely be down to all the codec and transcode settings. transcoding does need a reasonably decent cpu as well.
cool thanks mate I'll have a tweak
problem solved.
they take ages to copy over -- and the copy 'bar' - doesn't indicate anything, but all good/
geez they chew up the gigabytes though, huh? especially if you're dumping high def TV etc in there.
can anyone recommend a good replacement hard drive? brand and size? I'm on 120gb now.
I thought id chime in with a newb question here, some of the avi's ive downloaded and transferred to my ps3 arent readable, im assuming i need some codecs to play them on my ps3 but how do i do that?
WANT. WANT BAD.
