their album is pretty damn good, y'know. rocking and stuff. bluesy goodness.

anyone heard their first ep, "let it burn"? any good?

much better live than on record. I caught them by surprise supporting some other band and grinned from ear to ear. so much fun live.

birdshit  said about 5 years ago:

yeah great live band. they really put in. Lookin forward to the record. haven't heard it yet.

tangy_zizzle  said about 5 years ago:

Agreed on the live sentiments. Never heard anything on record that sounds a tenth as good as they are live.

empra  said about 5 years ago:

Their new single sounds like Hole or The Distillers or something... It fucks with my head every time.

ladyh  said about 5 years ago:

one of the most generic unorigional boring releases I have ever heard...lots of fun live though

Goal attack  said about 5 years ago:

just heard what I assume is a new song on the radio, it was awesome. All the way through thinking "Who is this? And they back announced it as The Vasco Era. Finally their recorded output is beginning to rule. I predict TOTAL SUPERSTARDOM.

annehelena  said about 5 years ago:

I saw them in a practically-empty Enmore theatre, only about 15 people turned up for their set when they opened for You Am I last year. Even so, I was absolutely blown away.

It had a very "I'm going to proudly be telling jealous people about seeing them in a practically-empty Enmore Theatre some day" feel to it. They're going to be huge. They deserve to be, at least.

blake3030  said about 5 years ago:

They're definitely good live.

On record, they have a style I can't quite get into.

Known these guys since I was a youngster. Good fellas.

whosgotthecrack?  said about 5 years ago:

where are they from?

annehelena  said about 5 years ago:

I wish to apologise for the split infinitve in my last post.

annehelena  said about 5 years ago:

They're from Melbourne.

blake3030  said about 5 years ago:

Nah, they're originally from Apollo Bay.

how spooky is that vasco era thingy at the top of the page!

there was a flash of lightening outside just as i was looking at it. freaky!!!

blake3030  said about 5 years ago:

Not a very positive review from M&N. Which is fine. Not sure about the example of inane lyrcis though. Those ones in the review are pretty clear. I haven't heard the album.

birdshit  said about 5 years ago:

Geez, buying advertising space doesn't guarantee a good review at this joint. Dang!

Haven't heard the record but i reckon they'z a pretty good band.

AlexGionfriddo  said about 5 years ago:

I like the new single a lot. Haven't heard the record yet.

I was a judge in a battle of the bands comp at The Corner some years ago, I remember the Vasco Era played as well as the band now know as Digger and The Pussycats. I think the Vasco Era won.

I recently saw them at Pt Nepean, but as I was working, didn't really have a chance to properly listen to their music, they were VERY popular with the crowd though.

birdshit  said about 5 years ago:

yeah the kidz go crazy for them. they really put in.

porkiepie  said about 5 years ago:

oh we do like to be beside the seaside

crap name for an album.

shineslikerubies  said about 4 years ago:

well. vasco played in newcastle last night. the crowd was fairly sparse, but enthusiastic, and the main set was pretty freaking awesome to begin with. but for once the band didn't trash the stage after they played, and despite the 'move on' music starting, the crowd heckled for an encore.

so they played one. and it was apparently the first they had ever done, which i believe. and it was freaking unreal. they had so much fun, and just played a bunch of covers - white stripes, doors, beatles, v. femmes etc etc - were standing round taking requests and rocking out for longer than the main set. it was blistering, and funny. the guys rarely seem to really have fun up on stage when i have seen them, but last night was amazing.

Sweet!

shineslikerubies  said about 4 years ago:

yeah 101s, it really was. i have not boogied for that long, or that hard, in ages. the whole room was moving and really into the whole time too, so it was not just the band having a ball.

I went to the TZU vs Vasco Era show last night. They played each others songs, covers, and all sorts of other bits.

It was rad. Vasco Era won. The dude from the band is one cool motherfucker.

shineslikerubies  said about 3 years ago:

oh awesome binary. i am madly jealous. i think that vasco are most entertaining when they are having fun, and it sounds like that was last night. sweetcakes.

spelled13  said about 2 years ago:

is it true they're all dwarves? i've never seen 'em live.

whatwhat  said about 2 years ago:

new album is okay. prefer the debut. prefer them live more.

snob  said about 2 years ago:

i've seen them a few times live, but the only time i've seen them sober was...sept-oct last year I think, with wolf and cub, at the northcote social club...and i wasn't that impressed. in fact, we left 3/4s of the way through.

tenzenmen  said about 2 years ago:

may have some news on these guys later in the year....!

tenzenmen  said about 1 year ago:

and the news is here: http://s-a-m-e.tumblr.com/

the Sino Australian Music Exchange program helped them tour in China!

ghoti-max  said about 1 year ago:
