Beach House

Who's been listening? I think the album is great... good on you, Mistletone, for putting this out locally - as well as Person Pitch (Panda Bear). I hope they're doing well for you.

Highlight: "Master of None"

great record. tour on the way, tis rumoured..

socks  said about 5 years ago:

You know what? A Blonde Redhead / Beach House double bill would totally flatten people. It'd be perfect. I sure hope those two tour rumours are somehow intertwined. It'd be a stroke of geniuq.

switchbladesisters  said about 5 years ago:

if Blonde Redhead don't pull another cancellation on us, of course. this they are notorious for...

socks  said about 5 years ago:

Was this before or after the Kazu Makino / horse accident, though?

switchbladesisters  said about 5 years ago:

cancellation here was after, others before..

shaun  said about 5 years ago:

the three songs I've heard from that Beach House LP have been beautiful. I looking out for it.

djbollocks  said about 5 years ago:

It's a really nice record. Reminds me a lot of Mazzy Star.

where did you pick it up socks?

i've really been enjoying the myspazz tunes of late.

pc  said about 5 years ago:

I like it a lot. I think quite a few people on here put it in their top 10s for last year.

I wonder what they sound like live? Do they just play as a two piece?

socks  said about 5 years ago:

So good.

mistletone  said about 5 years ago:

yes they perform as a two piece, sitting down, preferably in hushed environments...
looks like they're coming to oz in the spring!

WAY too much backing tape. And the drummer hardly plays - why is he even there? Was pretty much all electronic beats. meh. (Laneway Melb)

I met Victoria the other day at laneway.. But got super shy when she started talking to me. She's a little intense.

jealous.

actually I thought all of the bass was in a backing tape, but it turns out it was coming from bass foot pedals. so really it's just the drum loop rather than a full backing tape, which is a pretty foundational part of their sound...

untold/animals  said about 1 year ago:

There's a lot of BVs in there too. BVs, I might add, which Alex supposedly sings - if you watch those silly Pitchfork videos!

flukazoid  said about 1 year ago:

hmm was there? there was one track where it sounded like there was one more vocal part than there was happening on stage... but only the one I think...

Beck's Festival Bar always has crappy sound though, so I'm sure other venues would have been more revealing.

Wonky  said about 1 year ago:

The Sydney show at the Beck's tent was great, the crowd was absolutely shit though. Bunch of unresponsive coolsies.

untold/animals  said about 1 year ago:

Did anyone cry when they heard them this time? I think I cried (secretly) when I saw them the first time. Weak, eh.

theneworphan  said about 1 year ago:

I had a pretty intense reaction to seeing them a few months ago, but it lasted for 5 songs, then I got a little bit bored. It was worth it for what I got though!

anok  said about 1 year ago:

heard them on the pa in lane crawford, harbour city HK today.

untold/animals  said about 5 months ago:

There doesn't seem to be a lot going on in Beach House's world, as far as I know, but 'Lovelier Girl' is one of my favourite love songs ever.

anok  said about 5 months ago:

featured heavily in 'the future'. i wore my tshirt as a pyjama last night.

chrowens  said about 2 months ago:

I'm sure almost everyone has heard their new song Myth by now, but just in case you haven't, it's amazing

mrmagoo  said about 2 months ago:

new album is out there, pretty nice on first listen

tugboat  said 27 days ago:

The RSD 7'' is amazing. both the songs and the packaging. Tie dye pattern of some sorts.

anok  said 23 days ago:

listening now. had no idea it was out and about. not sure i care anymore? make me care again, beach house! haha

astrousersasmind  said 23 days ago:

same, there is a certain smugness or detachment that I find consistently alienating with these guys. Nice melodies though.

blake3030  said 23 days ago:

Didn't care the first time I heard the new one. But a few listens in and there are some undeniable gems.

anok  said 23 days ago:

detachment... yeah. half way in and it even feels a bit going-through-the-motionsy so far. gonna listen to shackleton instead.

mrmagoo  said 1 day ago:

been really into this new one lately, excellent work

this band has some great form
