So who here skates?
Have you been doing it forever and ever, or just started? What sort of deck do you have? Best places to skate? Got cool tales?

i cut my chin open skating down a half pipe for the first time years ago...my friend convinced me to do it and i never skated again.
paging knomadix to thread
i skated for 15 years or more,to old and fat now:(......................oh and i always hated the term sk8 or die.
my back's too fucked to skate now but i skated from about the age of 12 or so til 29
i know a chick at work who skates nearly every weekend with a bunch of blokes - they're all in the 40s. i forget what they call themselves
Haha, I fucking love the term, it makes me think of fluro board shorts and Venice Beach.
Oh, and I did see some one on Venice Beach in said board shorts and shouting that very term. But that's where all the crazy types are....
rach- was that you i fucked at knox bowl?
So yeah, I just started skating.
I got bored with every one reading Thrasher and running off to the bowl without me, plus I needed a new bone-breaking bruise-making hobby and pole tricks just don't cut it any more.
While I have got some pretty good balance going on now I'm pretty sure I need to change the way I'm standing as I'm having trouble maintaing a straight line. I think I lean/stand too much to the left?
skated for 16 years and i'm not allowed to anymore because i might burst more discs in my back. had a 2-level spinal fusion 2 years ago. i reckon i could still skate; but can't risk the consequences given that it would affect my wife and child as well.
it's about the only thing that truly shits me in my life. if i had nobody depending on my i'd still be skating.
yeah i remember that cheezel - you took about a minute
just don't push mongo, charlottevalentine. might as well rollerblade if you're going to do that.
mongo:)...........no crazy back shit for me,just fucked waists and ankles...........i remember slamming and thinking, fuck i've gotta work monday!!
nothing like pretending you haven't broken something just to prevent loved ones from stressing. got a few badly-healed bones in my ankles from that routine.
I started skating about 3/4 months ago, broke my arm so I'm taking it easy for awhile.
my right knee is fucked from having a skateboard slam into it at the bowl
never did learn how to get outta the way in time
That's pushing off with your front foot, right? I don't do that, but I do stand goofy.
I got on a skateboard at the age of 11 at the insistence of my older brother.
I went down a small hill, fell off and promptly threw up.
Never tried it since.
I used to rollerblade in London, though.
CV-you'll get the hang of it,my last set up was, girl deck, indy tracks(always indys) spitfire wheels.
man,i miss my skating dayz:(
it's probably not a good thing to take up if you have a strong aversion to hurting yourself.

Yeh i guess because theyre so skinny and smash bongs all the time then they're more asexual to their captain of the football team peers, according to teen girls magazines
gonna contribute to the skate thread.
anyone seen the new blueprint film?
i was pretty bummed out on most of it.
nick jensen's part in ''lost and found'' is one of my all time favourites but wasn't feeling his part in this at all...
does anyone remember Snake Pit in prahan?? I bought my first deck from that shop.
An ALVA Murf.
i remember it cost me $80. that was in about '88 . Weird how the prices of decks have pretty much stayed the same.
I'm excited yodgees is still around and kicking. I rem travelling up from Geelong when I were 16 to buy a t shirt from there.
And dnzr about the blueprint film, I was so bummed I missed the premiere at order of melb. The trailer looks fantastic! But you don't rate it?
Where is Yodgees these days? I used to go there on Puckle Street. It's where I bought my Independent velcro wallet in Year 11 or 12 that I still use now.
some of it is excellent but the music doesn't fit the skating at all (portishead FFS?) and the team seems to have filled up with textbook euro flip in and out of knee high ledges tech dudes.
colin kennedy and paul shier are great, nick jensen seems to be on autopilot, marty murawski's part is amazing and the rest are oooooooooook but nothing mindblowing.
they do destroy some of the roughest looking spots ever.
and it seems there is an overload of nosegrinds for some reason.
have you seen nugget's debut pro part?
holy shit...
nuggets pro part is insane. but i reckon there are other older video's of him that are better.
Yodgees went out of business.
Yes, Nugget is killing it. A textbook style without any personality, but technically he is one of the very best alive.
Haven't seen the Blueprint video.
In my view, the best video of 2009 was the SLAVE video 'Radio Television'.
Great style, great music, amazing skating.
yeah, nuggett is a robot alright but that part is still hectic.
my favourite video from 2009 was ''Prevent This Tragedy'' - the free Thrasher/Converse one.
nick trapasso is so fucking steezy, david garvette kills it, ethan fowler makes and awesome return and i even liked sammy bacca's part - refreshing after a decasde of kostonbots.
Now this is a rad part.
Yes, that Darrell Stanton video is the best part of 2010 so far.
QUAKED - SKATING IN CHRISTCHURCH AFTER EARTHQUAKE
Ethan Fowler used to rule, then he left Foundation and became a hippy.
I’d liked him more when he hated everyone and wore lots of black.
I'm on the hunt for a set of rector knee pads - kids size or small.
Does anyone know of any board shops that stock them?
The Real video is pretty rad.
And I came across a sweet youtube clip of Dennis Busenitz for adidas bombing SF streets. the part where he casually ollies over the wheel of a trailer is awesome.
The adidas trip to Japan is awesome as well, Busenitz, Nestor Judkins, Silas Baxter-Neal...
i know this is really lame, but i'm sorta hanging for Sheckler's Plan B part when it drops.
there are rumours he BS flipped El Toro for it!
Supposeldy he did some awesome stuff in the last Thrasher KOTR. He is a good skater.. he's just, well Ryan Sheckler.
this bad boy just arrived as a complete from the US
NOS Frankie Hill Powell from 1991
gonna be good times on bowls and minis this summer.
that's a cool looking board!
i put this in the backyard a few weeks ago, good times.
