Elise Nordling (IndiePopRocks @ SOMA.fm) gathered some radio folk together and grilled them to find out what their preferences were for demos and promo material. She wrote up the notes for her latest blog entry. Might be handy for bands that need to get some promo in the US.
Submitting your music to radio stations

I've been meaning to mention that both Elise Nordling and Bagel Ted seem quite receptive to Aussie indie. I'm sure the others would be too. So have a read and send them some tracks.

I'm surprised there wasn't more response to this. But hey, what do I know.
Music? Pffft!
radio stations like compression.
Best way to utilise limited bandwidth, surely?
additional stuff:
always send a note with a cd - you might like to include recommended tracks, upcoming tour info, any neat details (eg a producer who's worked with other notable bands, info on guest singers, why you've done a certain cover, who did the artwork)
recommend songs
include contacts for hooking up interviews
Everyone here is an expert, that's why Modi.
Thanks for the link.
angelic: yep. Make sure you winzip your mp3s before sending them on.
bad-dum tish! I'll be here all night, folks, try the salmon.
ta!
let me know if Elise or Ted pick up one of your tracks.
I've noticed that, empra. You'd think with such a panel of experts, it would be a powerhouse of up and coming music, instead of a retarded shitfight, though.
good tips songpod. it's surprising how much stuff goes through radio stations without catching someone's attention. nothing to do with how it sounds.
