so these guys are pretty fucking sick. I only found out recently that they're actually from Brisbane. Do they play around much? If any of you guys are on this message board, do you wanna play a gig with my band?

appreciates

moses  said about 5 years ago:

yeah these guys are pretty much the best thing ever

barely ever play i dont think. you cant even buy their records in sydney.

socks  said about 5 years ago:

Can you buy them in Melbourne?

moses  said about 5 years ago:

i think missing link sells a whole bunch of mymwly stuff. maybe syn too.

fastcanoe  said about 5 years ago:

mymwly has a bunch of stuff in syn.. there is also there blog/sales ... and they have members from Towoomba (predominantly from the band Blonde Cobra.. who rightly have mainly moved to Brisbane in the last year or so), but are actually from Kyogle in N.S.W to be pedantic.

All I all I find the whole catalogue to be a little mind numbing.. nice guys though.

mswahili  said about 5 years ago:

yeah missing link also has BOTOS and other mymwly stuff (mostly dating from last year).

I really like some Terracid, Blonde Cobra, 6majik9 and BOTOS. They release stuff at an alarming rate, but not all of it has been that great, so for the moment I've stopped trying to keep track of everything they do.

fastcanoe  said about 5 years ago:

Blonde Cobra were fantastic.. one of the finest bands out of the small Towoomba scene.

adamdmills  said about 5 years ago:

s&f used to sell their stuff.

i'm going to try and start getting the mymwly discs into red eye.

animal speak is a great record. some of their other stuff is a little hit & miss though.

humanityisthedevil  said about 5 years ago:

Played with them in Brisbane. They were GREAT - had a strobe going FOR THE WHOLE SET. Nice dudes, expansive knowledge, generous disc swaps. Ex-Red Eye staff, some of them.

Pelt and/or Holler  said about 5 years ago:

I like BOTOS, have seen them a few times now. I do have to agree with the hit and missness of the MYMWLY collective though, some releases / projects have been great; and others just don't do it for me. Have seen 6Majik9 a few times and never gotten into them, even though it's mostly the same members as BOTOS.

adamdmills  said about 5 years ago:

BOTOS was originally a duo.

the lineup that toured the US was basically 6majik9. i think they used the BOTOS name because it's more recognisable.

but, shit changes with those hippies so fast i can't keep up.

shunt  said about 5 years ago:

have they ever played melbourne? i wanna see them

mswahili  said about 5 years ago:

Nah they never made it down this far. Mark Harwood (synaesthesia) has been trying to get them to tour for the last couple of years, but it never eventuated. To begin with BOTOS didn't play live at all, I think...

adamdmills  said about 5 years ago:

the real BOTOS doesn't - one member is a total recluse.

socks  said about 5 years ago:

Recluses are fucking hilarious!

moses  said about 5 years ago:

michael donnelly looking like a mug infront of a painting he did

switchbladesisters  said about 5 years ago:

saw 'em in Brisbane with Marissa Nadler.. was pretty insane. bowed guitars... electric cello... 9 piece lineup if I remember rightly. nice guys.

they were sposed to play the Sydney Nadler show too but MIchael and a couple others missed their train from Kyogle due to a flat tyre!

Greg and a friend of Michael's ended up playing the show regardless as 'Sisters Of The Christian Brotherhood'- 15 minutes of total improv dual guitar noise with howling. Crowd loved it... Basement staff found it 'inappropriate' :D

moses  said about 5 years ago:

haha awesome story

wish these guys would come back

moses  said about 5 years ago:

oh shit what are the odds

23 Jun 2007 7:00 P
Chalkhorse Gallery/ BROTHERS OF THE OCCULT SISTERHOOD, BLANK REALM Surry Hills,

excellent, even if that is abit far away.

switchbladesisters  said about 5 years ago:

I know Michael likes to play shows, but they all have jobs, and there are so many of 'em.. you never know what you'll get till the night, basically. I'm sure if shows were booked in Melbourne they would make it in some way shape or form..

fastcanoe  said about 5 years ago:

Good stuff, wanted to catch a Blank Realm set.. might fly up for this one, would be nice to catch some of the people involved again.

adamdmills  said about 5 years ago:

bucketloads of BOTOS and related junk just slipped through the mail slot here at red eye.

yeee-haw!

alpsofmessandnoise  said about 5 years ago:

i think they are playing in sydney in a couple months at that intense nest sheebang

moses  said about 5 years ago:

alps i think you should read about four posts above you

adam, i will probably buy all of that`

adamdmills  said about 5 years ago:

it'll be on the shelves by this afternoon, moses.

shaun  said about 5 years ago:

oh that's cool about the gig.

will probably drop into redeye and pick some stuff up. my girlfriend wants free tickets to that Paris film

cobrakiss  said about 4 years ago:

hi everyone. thought i might just let you know that BOTOS have had to cancel on the Sydney Chalkhorse show and are no longer playing live as BOTOS.

Happily they have been replaced by Paeces. They will also be joined by Joel Stern's No Guru/Sunshine Has Blown expansion and Blank Realm. All MYMWLY bands.

shaun  said about 4 years ago:

well that fucking sucks

cobrakiss  said about 4 years ago:

yeah, it's a pretty huge bummer. but the other bands are still awesome.

pretty sure 6majick9 might still play live from time to time, but BOTOS is gonna be a studio only thing now.

Pelt and/or Holler  said about 4 years ago:

Sunshine Has Blown are excellent, saw them a few weeks ago. Still want to see Blank Realm...

Is Terracid still playing live, anyone know?

cobrakiss  said about 4 years ago:

at this show? i don't think so, there's a small chance Michael himself will make it, but not likely.

runoutgroove  said about 4 years ago:

Are there copies of the new BOTOS vinyl LP floating about locally?

!

Pelt and/or Holler  said about 4 years ago:

Oh I just meant in general.

runoutgroove  said about 4 years ago:

i tried to help then got it wrong...

maybe

Manhattan  said about 4 years ago:

I hear they campaign for John Howard.

cobrakiss  said about 4 years ago:

I think he will continue to play solo shows, hopefully.

mymwly were selling the vinyl with limited handmade packaging for 20 bucks.

cobrakiss  said about 4 years ago:

ugh wrong link again, things aren't going well for me here today. does this board have an edit feature perhaps???

cobrakiss  said about 4 years ago:

6majik9 in melbourne friday 22nd of feb

fastcanoe  said about 4 years ago:

Kyogle not kickin' out the jams?

shaun  said about 3 years ago:

In case no one checks the DIY releases thread, MYMWLY is coming to an end, with Michael Donnelly's new label PacificSoma taking over. I'd suggest getting hold of the remaining catalogue before it's too late. PacificSoma apparently won't be a 'CD-R' label, and will have longer release runs and limited vinyl.

astralwerkor  said about 3 years ago:

I'm just getting into this, which obviously shows my idiocy, and I'm seeing if I can order as much as possible from the catalogue before it goes forever. I'm fucking enjoying what I've heard thus far.

adamdmills  said about 3 years ago:

good stuff, astral. if you can get your hands on animal speak, lucifer's bride or run from your honey mind, you won't be disappointed. more recently, the world is at war is well worth checking out.

Scale  said about 3 years ago:

This stuff has been SUCH a challenge to track from tasmania given that i'm disorganised and broke, but every relic i've grabbed has been golden. Terracid is the high point for me, but if there's stuff that doesn't rise so well from their catalogue I dunno what it is.

Run From Your Honey Mind is a belter

shaun  said about 3 years ago:

My favourite = Enter The Cult Until The Dust To Represent The World has discovered the Hallucinogens and bent us to their use

It's a 3 disc set, good representation of all their styles. It's nice to sink into every now and again to discover new things.

Also, Goodbye is excellent if it's still available.

moses  said about 3 years ago:

terracid - glorious asethetes somethign something something rar
brothers - animal speak
brothers - goodbye

ive always really liked some of the older 6majik9 stuff - most of the new stuff is pretty shit though
are my favourites.

ive had the new 3cd comp for ages but havent listened to it yet.

astralwerkor  said about 3 years ago:

I'm picking up the Entger the Cult thing, and Goodbye, and a bit of Terracid stuff too. Cool.

moses  said about 2 years ago:

whatever happened to these dickheads?

shaun  said about 2 years ago:

whatever happened to these dickheads?

They have a new album out now! The first on the Pacific Soma label. Listening for the first time now.

astralwerkor  said about 2 years ago:

Interesting.

moses  said about 2 years ago:

yeah saw that, how is it? am meaning to get it, but havent had the motivation yet
