Ben  said about 5 years ago  or at  6:45PM on Saturday, March 17 2007 in chat

So I need some new jeans... I tried some hipster Levi things.. but there's no ballroom! they hurt. will this go away if I wear them in? or should I trade them in on some baggy old skater jeans?

I sorta want a tighter fit.. maybe a wider bottom leg.. but... I dunnoo..

give me advice...

where should I go?

What should I get?

Ben  said about 5 years ago:

oh.. and I want them to look great.. They'll be my 'rock jeans'

Simon_Sez  said about 5 years ago:

Stop talking about your balls for a start.

Ben  said about 5 years ago:

haha... but they're important!!

blake3030  said about 5 years ago:

you want a tighter fit.. AND ball room?

good luck!!

I got some 'element' jeans from myer for $40 and they're ace. Slim and with ball room.

Simon_Sez  said about 5 years ago:

Wear trousers. they're, ahem, roomy and much better under lights.

Ben  said about 5 years ago:

Arnt Element some expencive 'name brand''?

shhh  said about 5 years ago:

jeans went all weird a few years ago and things don't seem to be improving. hard now to just find some simple classic pair without all the nonsense.

Ben  said about 5 years ago:

yeah.. I need to have someone come with me I reckon

Simon_Sez  said about 5 years ago:

They just don't make good clothes for the lanky gentleman these days.

imaginarylion  said about 5 years ago:

I want to hear more about your balls, Ben.

Try op shops? Tight jeans will stretch around stress areas.. like, you'll be sitting down a lot in them so they'll get looser in that area. I'm not explaining this properly but I hope you know what I mean?

shhh  said about 5 years ago:

and while we're on the subject here's two things i don't get:

  1. jeans that are just so low cut they make people (guys and girls) look really oddly shaped. i'm sure it looks attractive to many but i just don't get it, i feel like grandma looking at the latest younger generation

  2. when guys do that thing where they have their jeans hanging off so badly that practically their whole arse in undies is on display. and usually they're wearing a belt too which makes even less sense.

shhh  said about 5 years ago:

my failsafe jeans for years have Levi's 550's - i have about 18 pairs. they make em for guys too i think. problem is i'm too fat at the moment to fit into any of them and i refuse to admit defeat and buy a bigger pair...

sips beer

flobs  said about 5 years ago:

Buying jeans sucks...

Me: "Have you got anything that's not low-cut and not in a boot-cut?"

Shop assistant: blank stare

Whilst I'm on a rant, it'd be nice to find more jeans in a short leg:

Me: "Have you got anything in a short leg?"

Shop assistant: "No, we only stock long so we can cater for everyone"

...I was so annoyed at this fucked-up logic I had to leave the shop!

svelteslacks  said about 5 years ago:

hahaha, shygirl... that pants thing is where i'm at... so i just keep wearing dresses.

gobetween  said about 5 years ago:

Dresses are the easiest. Put em on, take them off with little fuss.

hiponion  said about 5 years ago:

oh, you're so fat, shygirl. i could barely see rigid past your enormous figure at golden plains. :P

blake3030  said about 5 years ago:

Dunno.

Seemed like some department store skater brand

cheap. on sale.

gobetween  said about 5 years ago:

It does suck when you are struggling to button up the top button on your jeans or pants.

imaginarylion  said about 5 years ago:

I'd love to see Ben in a dress.. PLENTY of ball room in there.

Okay so I went there. I don't really think as jeans discounted to $190 as a bargain...

Bootcut jeans the holy grail, FINALLY found some!

Thanks to Saba, nice and long, nice and dark, nice and bootcut.

3 pairs purchased, now I don't have to worry for another 6 years.

^That above picture is rather faptacular- almost one for the wankbank.

Arthurly- what did they set you back? Gstar aint cheap.

Amazon is having a Levis sale (they dont ship to here so you will have to use a shipping service).

ocelotl  said about 1 year ago:

Nice jeans, stupid stupid heels. I just go Sam Bear every time. Yer basic Levis range, $10 or so less than RRP I think.

spaceman1  said about 1 year ago:

hahaha who wears bootcut jeans! do you live in the country? this thread is hilarious.

number_nine  said about 5 months ago:

any tips on where i might get a decent pair of jeans at a reasonable price in melbs?

i just ripped the arse out of this pair.

max bulk  said about 5 months ago:

Dejour jeans, Sydney road. Decent jeans, Aussie made, they take them up for you on the spot for free - $40 a pair last I went. That's value!

Bought 2 pairs. Really comfy and I reckon they look okay. Yep $40 a pair.

max bulk  said about 5 months ago:

Yeah they look pretty good I reckon. The blue ones were my principal jean for a good eight months this year.

tugboat  said about 5 months ago:

I am a big Dejour fan as well.
$40 a pair incl alternation and the LOLz.

a friend got some dujour jeans but they guy tapered them in at the ankles at the same time he took them up, which she was pretty unhappy with.

I love this guy! And he says it takes 40 minutes to one hour to make a pair, but gives the labour cost as $10. That's humility. Didn't know about Dejour till now, will definitely get my next jeans from him!

spaceman1  said about 5 months ago:

Does he even get them washed? It's a cute concept, probably not a very sustainable business model.

Anywyay, e should charge more for labour. Why does nobody want to pay a fair price for anything nowadays yet be so quick to pretend to care about ethics in clothing manufacturing and take the anti-sweatshop stance. Even sweatshops that pay their machinists more than $10 p/ hr.

ocelotl  said about 5 months ago:

True - but is it really a sweatshop situation? Sounds like he and his wife and her family do all the work! Kmart or Target (I forget which) sell $10 jeans, that's not something I would go for (style/quality aside), but the Dejour setup sounds OK...

here:

At one Mexican sweatshop, workers are expected to meet a quota of 1,000 pieces a day. That could mean creating 1,000 jeans, 1,000 shoes or 1,000 rugby balls a day, depending on the product a factory produces. For the Mexican workers to meet this quota they would need to create MORE than one piece a minute. This quota is so high that the workers are unable to have a drink or go to the toilet all day.

If you work a normal part time job in US, you will get paid for around $10
Overseas student in Melbourne go paid $8-$10 per hour working at waiters or bus boys.
