I started a Lost Sounds thread on old m+n, and Rigid was the only other person to post in it.

Lost Sounds were my first Jay Reatard / Alicja Trout love. I always imagine hands getting stuck in insinkerators when I listen to them.

From there I dug backwards to find the Reatards... and am also now an avid listener of Destruction Unit, Nervous Patterns, Bad Times, Angry Angles... as well as Alicja Trout's other stuff (Black Sunday, The Fitts, Mouserocket, River City Tanlines).

But goddamn... Jay's first solo record is the bees fucking knees. I've been listening to it on repeat all week long, and I just found out he's doing a long 2+ month tour of Europe (no UK dates so far, unfortunately) so I'm trying to work out the best place for me to go and see him play.

Marry me Jay. Please.

argh! jay's touring europe in may/june... gonna have to be a tightarse for the next few weeks so i can go to the netherlands shows.

I still like the first Reatards album the best. I hung out with him for a few days in Memphis. Guy was fucked in the head. He ran across the room to kick me in the balls, and missed. Then he stole my couch to sleep on and made me punch him until he got out. He never got out, no matter how hard I punched him. Then we went out to score a hooker but he only had a bicycle so he couldn't get one to go with him. Then he wanted to go score crack but he was only 20 and couldn't get into the bar so I went with him to score but couldn't get any. Then there was the time at a party in Seattle when they gave this girl a wine enema and dared him to drink it.

They're two different beasts Ubu. Not Fucked Enough is more a compilation anyway.

I think I love Blood Visions more though.

Just wanna say, the singles (yeah the songs) aren't so good. There are a few good ones in there which I'm pretty sure he's had for a while anyway. I really hope he doesn't continue down this path of a more pop influenced sound, because yeah, he's not very good at it.

oh i thought it was in response to my comment about singles. i heard from a friend in the usa that when he plays those new pop songs live he plays them so fast that they sound rad again and all the pop becomes punk. i just can't wait to see him live, i might drop my wad.

Will be awesome fun, but to tell the truth I've lost a lot of my enthusiasm in the last half of this year. I think I'll always prefer the Reatards records anyway.
