BALANCE OF POWER
Triple J has removed envelope-pushing social observer John Safran from the airwaves on Sunday nights and replaced him with an earnest right-wing conservative by the name of Stirling Addison.

I won't even comment on JJJ..It's so confusing.

empra  said about 5 years ago:

JJJ sucks. All they play is hip hop crap. Their news is shit and community radio is better. It should be banished forever and ever. No one listens to it anyway....

scallywag  said about 5 years ago:

lane, did you read beyond the first two paragraphs?

redlips  said about 5 years ago:

DAFSFFS!!

soooo many threads on the J's

isn't it called re-dressing the balance - was on once before - pretty darn amusing.

Colbert called, he wants his schtick back.

empra  said about 5 years ago:

Moclair doesn't tell his guests in advance the show is a spoof. As with Ali G and Norman Gunston, the comic tension comes from us knowing it's satirical but the guests, and some listeners, taking Addison's extreme views and pomposity seriously.

tough crowd

mrsjackwhite  said about 5 years ago:

Tony Moclair = Guido Hatzis

angelic_layer  said about 5 years ago:

It's aimed at the mid-west demographic.

selected works  said about 5 years ago:

Feh.

I prefer Alan Partridge.

Pal  said about 5 years ago:

Come on, Stirling Addison? The name screams transparent spoof.

questionmark  said about 5 years ago:

not really. look at the names of the australian rugby team some time.

goingblank  said about 5 years ago:

Didn't they used to have a couple of Young Liberals members on hosting duties when it was first introduced a few years ago?

socks  said about 5 years ago:

I just saw Midnight Juggernauts leaving the JJJ studio - now there's your transparent spoof.

scallywag  said about 5 years ago:

> Tony Moclair = Guido Hatzis

is that right?

mrsjackwhite  said about 5 years ago:

sure is.

Lane  said about 5 years ago:

anyone head it? hot or not humour?

rosiefantail  said about 5 years ago:

Am I juvenile for laughing at the phrase "transparent spoof"?

hiponion  said about 5 years ago:

what's this thread about

mipearson  said about 5 years ago:

What was the name of that thatcherite bint who used to write for Farrago in 2004? Melissa something. They should have just got her in. Comedy act and a half.

5 second delay? how annoying! for sport - but if a source of music was only available digitally, then there would be no delay v's the alternative would there?

team ham sandwich  said about 9 months ago:

Runs to shop to buy a digital radio solely to listen to ''unearthed'' aussie hip hop.

Popboomerang  said about 9 months ago:

i reckon this station would be best devoured over the internet streaming -i don't think anyone should go an buy a digital device speciffically for an uneartherd jjj channel

I agree, but I also think that internet radio will be waaaay more important than digital in the future. I bet there is currently a lot more people listening to the radio thru streaming apps (like tunein), than there is with digital radios.

Popboomerang  said about 9 months ago:

i think internet streaming must have saved stations like rrr & 3pbs? - opens up a massive national audience! just gotta get people nationally to subscibe at radiothon times and u survive! minimal ads! take that to the world & the sky is the limit potentially!

ghoti-max  said about 9 months ago:

I got a new mini hi-fi a few months ago with a digital radio built in...I haven't noticed anything other than an annoyingly huge amount of SBS stations. Will have to figure out how to pick up the Unearthed station, seems like it could be good for a listen here an there.

I really love triple j breakfast without the two regular guys. Paul Verhoven (sp?) is such a ridiculous legend.

bigdaddykane  said about 5 months ago:

Tom and Alex are the reason I don't listen to Triple J anymore. I used to just listen to it in the shower in the hope Zan would play something cool, which she frequently does, but these dudes are just the worst. They gave my ears cancer.

I haven't seen Mean Girls.
I would think that saying 'Boo, you whore!' to JG openly is ''fucked up sexism'', regardless of your sexual orientation.

Nice article...shame it had to get cut short due to word limit, would've loved another couple of thousand words of quotes and inferences.

Downfall parody is shit, but for the line ''you're not a hipster, you're just a nazi''.
