That's thinking positive.
Totally.
If you're running, it pays to have supportive shoes. Pumping iron not so much.
You can buy inexpensive shoes that are still supportive.
yeah - getting the right running shoes is important. if you injure yourself when starting you are unlikely to improve and enjoy the benefits of it. it just becomes a slog.
doesn't have to be mega-bucks, but go somewhere that knows their shit.
what the others said - get shoes to try and suit the purpose.
if youre going to be jogging a bit you will need more support to prevent joint/ligament damage.
people deadlifting or squatting will use shoes with a really flat, thin sole (think cons, volleys) or barefoot so they dont lose power driving through the squishy insulation of running shoes.
I've been wearing the same runners for years, possibly 5. From memory they were around $100 I used them for a lot of running in the past and they are real supportive, they are an exact mold of my foot now. Now it is all about the iron (apart from treadmill warm up/sprints) so shoes aren't as important. Mid-range shoes will do the job, don't fuck your feet up with dunlop volleys or something cheap.
Not to add to the death of Australian retail (tm), but I tried expensive shoes on in Rebel and then bought them (well, something similar to this) off Amazon for half the price.
if youre lifting heavy shoes are important, but the focus should be on the type of shoe, not the cost.
very important. you cant just lift in a pair of nike air max or dunlop volleys. if you also run then get a separate shoe for that.
i wear these...
I'm wearing thrift store Addidas with stars on them to the gym, but I'm not serious about it yet. Just going once or twice a week, trying to ease myself into physical activity and mental health.
why can't you lift weight with Dunlops? :-D
Also, I want to be this guy in the video:

Want to help out a sister in iron to represent Australia in Sweden's world powerlifting championship?

The rowing machine is so much fun. But ouch, my abs.
This is my next serious commitment, a gym membership, I need to get out of the rut I'm in.
Find a 24-hour one, if you can. I have such a packed schedule that I can only go at odd times, so being able to go at midnight if I want to is awesome.
I like health clubs that have indoor swimming pools, spas and saunas as well. They are big in UK, not so big over here. I think The Ian Thorpe Aquatic centre looks good, they have a lot of classes on as well and a gym.
i trained at muscle and body shape in richmond on the weekend lol! that gym is awesome! if you've ever seen the movie ''pumping iron'' then this gym is almost the same lol! its a true 70's-80's style gym. like going back in time!
