The Car or the Band? Whats your choice?

cousincreep  said about 5 years ago:

try that again

cheezel  said about 5 years ago:

car easy!!!

silvertone  said about 5 years ago:

band, no question.

Years ago, I shared a flat in Sydney with Dean's brother. They both grew up in New Zealand before moving to USA.

fastcanoe  said about 5 years ago:

I think Dean actually spent more time in Sydney than NZ on the whole.. though they still happily claim im with that whole birthing thing. But yes.. the band takes my vote.. they can be my tugboat captain.

djbollocks  said about 5 years ago:

i wouldn't know about the car but the band are great. On fire is one of my favourite albums.

mrb  said about 5 years ago:

Genius band...so, band for sure. old cars are a pain in the arse.

kandos  said about 5 years ago:

can't i just have both?

mrb  said about 5 years ago:

they did

4th of July & Tugboat have gotta be 2 of the best songs ever

The Band most definitely

emmy hennings  said about 5 years ago:

exactly.

was there ever a lovelier song written about a car than Blue Thunder? I don't think so.

Galaxie 500, brrrroom brrrooomm.

car

HEB  said about 5 years ago:

Pop Will Eat My Blog recently featured the Blue Thunder 12" - you know, the one with the cover of Ceremony....

shhh  said about 5 years ago:

isn't naomi wearing great tights in that photo above?

i like their 3 chord early stuff better than anything else they or dean did later.

there's a good dvd of late 80s college concerts

LoadMyRig  said about 5 years ago:

this is our music for mine.

so fucking beautiful...

TransientRandom  said about 5 years ago:

is this a serious question??!!

shhh  said about 5 years ago:

listen the snow is falling...

LoadMyRig  said about 5 years ago:

i love you yoko...

shhh  said about 5 years ago:

yup.

shhh  said about 5 years ago:

have said it before on here, i had to stop myself in jb once from buying $150+ of yoko records all in one punch. think it was the best thing too.

maybe one at a time, but not all at once...

TransientRandom  said about 5 years ago:

one of the only 'seminal' bands on earth who broke up and respective members went on to projects with absolutely no redeeming features. (yes i just paid indirect props to latter-era oasis... to the shower!) the juxtaposition is just a small feather in a plumage-based hat. or a chicken.

Maybe they dropped too much acid.

They're fucking shit anyway. I got everyone in the van one in the U.S and we put on Strange and ate our twinkies. Not worth it

GOOD STORY.

national_highway_31  said about 7 months ago:

I regret not going now, because I thought I would be really disappointed as I'm more inclined towards D+N than Dean. Saw D+N about eight years ago in Los Angeles and they were fantastic.

Yeah, for me, Galaxie 500 is more about Naomi's bass. But Dean Wareham Plays Galaxie 500 is the closet thing to the real Galaxie 500 live.

My preference of Galaxie 500 related acts:
Damon & Naomi -> Dean & Britta -> Magic Hour -> Luna

The Sonic Boom mix is predictable but nice. The hole of the 7'' is pretty small. I had a hardtime putting it on my turntable.

A recording of the Melbourne show is online over here: http://fanmaderecordings.blogspot.com/

Goodbyetonsils  said about 7 months ago:

really enjoyed last night, took a while for the band to settle in I thought, but by the end was loving it. The final encore of ‘Ceremony’ was sublime.

A good night out....and came home with a 7’, too funny they forgot to number them, what number shall I give myself?!

electricsound  said about 7 months ago:

you can be 2

tugboat  said about 7 months ago:

I am 0

mrb  said about 7 months ago:

Melb show was clearer, Syd was louder. Both had their own charms. Was so great to just drift off on the clouds as the music played. Lots of love in the room both nights.

tugboat  said about 7 months ago:

If I had $, I would fly to Sydney for it too. The show in Brooklyn was much louder. Was Dean less Jetlag on day 2?

mrb  said about 7 months ago:

He always seems so relaxed I can't tell.

tugboat  said about 7 months ago:

The amazing The Wall Live House (Taiwan) made this video for the ''Galaxie 500'' show.
